lol alright, and yeah, I meant that I don't know anyone else in my metro area and considering that it's the biggest in kansas i assumed there would be sparse numbers anywhere else. It's sad, in my intro thread you were right that there are only like 4 cubers in kansas

did you do any mods to it?? tensioning on the inner/outer shells??

I completely took it apart, unscrewing everything up to the 3x3 type core thing. I put lubix on all three screws and then reassembled it. I also put some lubix in the white core part, and then once reassembled I put lubix in the 4x4 part. I just had to tension it by 1/2 turn, and then it was perfect for me.

Prior to that, I had put just a tiny bit of maru lube to get it spinning since it totally sucked out of the box

Only one pop so far during a solve. It mostly pops when im scrambling, but thats cuz i try to go way too fast and it just misaligns.

No mods done to it. I don't really think it even needs any. It cuts a full cubie.

I've went to investigate f2l cases that take to long to execute intuitively and found around 12 case or so.

Problem is if i memorise those algs, I'm sure to execute them fast when i run into those cases, will it ruin my ability to look ahead?

I was wondering because the the updated version of qqTimer, what does the term Sub-optimal mean?

Sorry, if the answer is "in your face" but I am unsure of the meaning of the term.

Thanks in advance. :)

With your times it is not nessisary for you to look ahead. As long as you know f2l, and 4 look last layer you can get sub 20 with pure speed. I know that is not a good thing to do and will hurt you in the long run but that is what I did.

Yes it will effect your look ahead if you turn too fast.

A way to improve that is by "Turbo-Tracking". Turbo-Tracking is an exercise that improves your look ahead. The basic premise of it is that you choose one or more piece and start scrambling the cube while at the same time keeping track o where that piece(s) is and knowing the orientations. The best way to start this is by following a corner and turning slowly but gradually speed up once you become comfortable. Next try it with and edge. Than and entire f2l pair and beyond.

Good luck!

Cool, so, do you think it's useful? Recognition sounds a bit too tricky for me at the moment.

I think that for some of the cases it could help, but in essence, now that i've learnt COLL, I'd say to use them only when you know you'd skip EP, so as an extension between COLL and ZBLL. You could learn them individually I suppose, but I don't think it would be worth it, unless you expanded the list greatly.
Recog is basically COLL/ZBLL recog. So COLL case + EP.

I just had my f2L timed. Ao5 :14.83
Cross done.
Solving the whole cube takes me roughly 30 sec and f2L consumed 50 percent.
How do I get it down to below 10 secs?

I use 4LLL, 2/3 PLL done.

Been cubing for 4 months now :)

Lookahead, learn F2L tricks, use algs for awkward F2L cases, try using less cube rotations.

With headlights to the left and no AUF, how do you tell the different between an A(b) perm and a G(b) perm? With headlights to the left you never see the 2x2 block of the A(b) perm. :fp

Here are four ways:
1) If the colour between the headlights is the opposite colour of the headlights, it's Gb.
2) If you see all four colours appear in order, it's Gb.
3) If the 2 far right colours are opposite colours, it Ab.
4) If the 2 inner colours on the right face are opposite colours, it's Gb.

Since these two cases only differ by the colours of the edges, you can find a way to distinguish them by the pattern of where opposite colours are/aren't. You can also apply this for Aa and Gd (mirror the directions). I find the first method the easiest since the face with the headlights stands out more than the other face.

What are the most popular 4x4 parity algs today? Should I even bother to learn double parity since its hard to determine before OLL is done? Pure vs non Pure?

I came to this thread to ask this question, you are wonderful <3
