One-Answer 2x2x2 Question Thread

In my opinion, yes. Because the Valk is so good, there are no drawbacks that getting used to the cube will exploit. If you want to switch 2x2s, use something better besides the Zhanchi.
the only reason i do is because old dayans need breakin and i want to reach 1000-2000 solves to see how it performs

To the Ortega solvers out there:
Do you prefer to build the first face without bars or even a full layer?

I just started to improve my prediction and I try to watch more for such things before I solve my first face.

The algs for no bar or one bar are shorter than for 2 bars or even the T-Perm or Y-Perm case.
But on the other side, you have the chance of a pbl skip if you start with a full first layer.

So I go for the shorter algs and try to have as few matching pieces as possible to get the shorter pbl cases.
My predictions does not go so far to see what's after the OLL

Are there any "OLL" algs that also do some changes on the first layer?
I (accidentally) found this one for the PI Case
It does not only solve the oll case but also swap the lower front pieces, so it is as far as I see not really an OLL, but I use this sometimes to destroy bars in the D layer

I try to make a whole layer or anti-layer (no bar) which I think is used in anti CLL and EG-2 (which I don't know).
Whole layer has a decent chance of OLL skip and anti-layer either gives bar on top (good case) or diag swap on bottom (bad case)

For reference I currently avg 5.2-5.3

I far prefer either no bars or one bar (one bar being by far the most common). Yes a layer gives a better chance of useful skips, but I prefer to optimize for consistency rather than single solves. All the solved layer algs are pretty bad, whereas most adj bottom ones are pretty good and the diag bottom ones are great, with the exceptions of having solved top layers (even then they aren't much worse than the solved layer algs).

How do I inspect more than 2 or 3 moves to predict OLL? Is it just practice?

Also is there a list of best PBL algs?
I found an alg sheet by Will Callan. My PBL algs I discovered were already there

Surely there is a PBL alg for bottom bar on front better than x L' U R' F2 R F' R? I was using R' D' R' F2 R D R which is pretty bad

And for (R U' R' U') F2 (U' R U R') D R2, is it better ending with U F2 ? In theory the D move is bad
