Then you're gonna to want to break it in before anything else.

1. Break in
2. Disassemble everything including the innermost white core
3. Sand down excess plastic on the white core pieces (it makes the inners smoother)
4 Adjust tensions (lubing the screws like the Ultimate GuHongs may help but I personally haven't tried it)
5. Lube the white core with Lubix. Enough that it should start to glide smoothly with little resistance.
6. Assemble and lube outer layers with whatever you want.
7. Profit

That's the key to getting a sick Dayan 4x4 right there. Once I get a camera I'll make a vid.

Alright but it all depends on when I sell my iPod cause I'll just record it on the new one I'm buying. If I don't have that within two or so weeks I'll try to borrow my friends laptop. You should spend about that much time on breaking it in anyway unless you go really hard for 4x4 with it. And it's extremely simple sanding and lubing things I'm sure anyone can do it.

Alright. questions.
I've been enjoying a bit of freeslice on 7x7 in the past couple days. Any advanced guides on how to sub 10? i'm stuck at like 13.......
Second question can't remember as of right now

1. Use a little maru lube to break it in. mine was broken in pretty well after 2 days.
2. Complete disassemble is unnecessary. If you have a can of crc, with the straw, stick the stray right btween two of the centers and spray a little. and work it in. This will lube the inner core.
3. The crc will smooth-en the inner cores plastic. When I finally took mine apart to see how its made, there was white powder in it, so I know this works.
4. Factory tension is fine. Faz did his sub 30 on the preset. 100+ solves on mine and Its still perfect. I tried tightening it a little, but it made the cc go wayyy down.
5. See step 2
6. Use lubix on the outer layers. Because of all the surface friction, it works perfectly. Lube the layers like you would a 3x3, and then pop an edge out and put some on the ball part. Dont use too much tho.
7. It should be pretty amazing right now.

I think the only thing that would make the dayan the perfect 4x4(besides smaller size) is if it had hooks in the edges like the rubiks brand does. I think this would reduce the pops to almost never.

Unless you absolutley want to do it, I wouldn't recommend disassemble. From what I heard about the xcube assembly, this is just as annoying. Getting the centers in is a pain.

We weren't talking about taking apart an X-Cube...

The tensioning was optional and I really haven't toyed with mine. taking it apart isn't even hard with this. It's a 2x2 core with some black bits screwed onto it and then it's like any other ball core 4x4. The profits make the fifteen minutes of assembly and disassembly worth it. You also probably spent a lot of tome with your cube before disassembling it. I did too and there was still flash left on the core pieces. As far as outer layers go I really didn't bother with mine out of laziness but my inner layers are only slightly worse than my Ghosthand 2x2 and the difference is die mostly to increased surface friction.

I know, I meant that getting the centers back into the ball part was a pain. Mines been perfect, and I did all of that within one week after I got it, and my times dropped 30 seconds. Before I wasn't even sub2, 2 weeks of dayan, and I was sub1.5.

From what I remember, mine was pretty juicy out of box, not much care needed. lol

What's a good Na perm and how soupy fingertrick it? I'm looking for one and this is what I might switch to.

(R U R' U) (R U R') F' (R U R' U') (R' F R2 U' R' U2) (R U' R')

Time for my bi-weekly N perm recommendation :)
I quite like z U R' D R2 U' R D' U R' D R2 U' R D', but it's not quite as nice as the equivilent Nb, I'd really recommend the N's with z turns at the start they're very good. The one you posted is really nice and finger tricky, but it's 21 moves - you've got to be going at more than 10tps before you can sub-2 it. The one I posted is 13/14 moves and two of them can be done at the same time. (and is still quite finger-tricky).

Anybody have a good alg for this case? All the ones on the wiki suck.

Why are you using a Dayan over your X-Cube?

Do you have both? I like mine equally. I have my X-cube tight enough so it doesn't pop but that makes all the layers slightly harder to turn than the Dayan + MF8 which will occasionally pop a single edge (but not normally throw it from it's spot).

Dayan assembly is a joke compared to X-Cube. You shouldn't really have had a problem putting it the centers. It's all really, really, simple. If you added the feet to the dedges like on a Rubik's brand the corner cutting would be reduced a lot which would hinder one of the cubes best attributes.

Yes I own both and I prefer my X-Cube by a lot. I had a pop on my Dayan where one of the black parts of the outer core popped causing a whole two layer explosion.

Okay while I'm re-learning my crappy N-Perm I decided to re-learn all my not-so-good algs.

All the algs I'm looking for are listed below. Any alg is the potential one I may learn.

E:x' R U' R' D R U R' D', R U R' D R U' R' D’
Z:(R' U' R2 U) (R U R' U' R U R U') (R U' R' U2)
Na:z U R' D R2 U' R (D' U) R' D R2 U' R D' R
Nb
F
Ra(currently use mirror of Rb)

If I get a PLL parity on the 4x4x4, if I do the parity alg before doing the PLL, does it matter whether I do the opposite or adjacent parity algorithm, and does it matter which side I do it on?

AGH, my lovely new LanLan 2x2 just came out of alignment - I had no idea that was even possible, but one face is locked at 45 degrees... is there any easy way to fix this or do I have to unscrew and dismantle it?

It won't make any difference.

Godmil: Mine did this within the first hour or so I had it. You're probably going to have to take it apart. Very easy but be careful. It takes a bit a force to get it out.
