Because of lubix viscosity, it is good for the core. But yes, you can lube the core with other lubes, but the difference it will make will vary depending on the lube.

What lubes do you have available?

none atm I was gonna get some lubix but its out of stock so I was gonna pick up some spray or another relatively viscous lube. But my A-V needs replacement parts and while my GuHong is amazing its unlubed self is costing my about 4 seconds on my avg and it making me angry so i'd like to correct it.

CRC or Jigaloo are good alternatives you can get at walmart or hardware stores, just make use you get heavy duty CRC or orange can jigaloo. Dont worry about the core for now, the majority of your friction is on the surface of the cubies. So take apart and lightly coat all non stickered surfaces, let dry and reassembly. btw, jigaloo take a while to dry, but its worth it.

dont bother getting CRC once you get lubix you will never go back to anything else! IF you have the money get the lubix because it will clear the gu hong gummyness right away! just lube the core and then 1 of the outer pieces tutorial HERE

What are the different methods to solve a 2x2? What is the fastest and slowest way? What is the easiest and hardest way (more or less algorithms)?

Most people go this route

LBL -> Ortega -> CLL -> EG

LBL is basically you solve it like a 3x3. one layer, then OLL then PLL.
Ortega is where you get 2 opposite side colors. You dont need a layer, just a side. Like Blue and Green solved. Then you do a PBL to permutate the layers at the same time. Its 5 algs.

I would describe the rest of the methods, but I don't think its too difficult for you to go to the Wiki and look up 2x2 speedsolving. Now is it?

The rubiks method. 2 algs that you already know on 3x3
Layer by layer Frederich. 10 algs,2 of them are from the rubiks
Ortaga. 6 extra algs(uses the same from Frederich)
Guimond(not worth it) 30 extra algs

CLL(other name is EG0) 41 algs(some you might know
EG1. 40 more
EG2. 40 more
Knowing every case possible. 856 algs.

These are the main 2x2 methods from easiest to hardest.

So basically learn fridrick first then go to ortega then go to CLL, then EG1, then EG2, then to knowing all the cases.

How many moves is optimal for a 2x2 layer:
-One colour?
-Opposite neutral?
-Colour neutral?

@kynit - color neutral on a 2x2 is easy, and I can do first layer in around 5-6 moves, tho I am sure if I had better look ahead, I could do better.

@gundamslicer - First time I am hearing of a newer Lingyun

On PLL time attack, do you start with the cube in your hand like you would for an individual timed PLL/OLL, or on the table like a regular solve?
Do you have to do your full PLL algorithms, or are you allowed to skip moves, Like AUFs at the front/end of the PLL, or moves that cancel, like the end of Ua and start of Ub cancel each other.

Havo, if you were allowed to skip moves that cancel you wouldn't do Ua or Ub, or Aa/Ab, any of the Gs etc because they are inverses. Aufs are unnecessary, I generally start with the cube in hand.

EDIT: omg I'm getting super ninja'd today. T_T

I meant single moves, my Ua is R U' R U R U R' U' R' U' R' U2 R' and Ub is R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2'
They are not inverses of each other. But it makes sense.

Please correct me but isn't 22.7*64.0mm>18.8*61.4mm so the second one has less volume? and less weight?

By the look of the bottle, one is mefferts lube without the label, and the other is maru.
Assuming D*H is diameter times height, the maru is 871, and the other is 1270.
1270/17=74_____$1.99 - the none maru is cheaper.
871/11=79______$2.80

Also, Ii is likely that those dimensions are shipping sizes, not the dimension of the actual product. The above calculations are in case it is the product.

What are the most common OLLs? Is there a chart of some sort?

OLL wiki
More OLL

According to the second link, the majority of them have a 1/54 chance of popping up, while a few have a 1/108.
But I am not sure if that is right, considering there are 57 different OLLs, shouldn't it be 1/57?

My suggestion, if you are looking to learn the most common ones first, then do a lot of solves, and see which ones you see a lot.
Those may not be more common, but you recognize them easier, making them easier to learn. That's what I do.
