Should i take the torpedos out of my lingyun v2 or should I leave them in? I've fixed the tension etc. but im still having lock up problems. thanks

Lockups do not occurr just simply because of torpedoes. I and many other cubers don't really feel much difference in lockups whether having it in or not. I personally feel that it only makes it a bit more rough or clickier, but doesn't slow it down. Lockups shouldn't be the problem on any Dayan products, they cut very well. You might need to work on your turning.

How to disassemble a Rubik's 4x4?

Hello! I have a newer version of the rubik's 4x4 cube, and I can't seem to figure out how to take it apart. None of the videos I have seen have really helped, mainly because I'm pretty sure they changed the design to make it more sturdy, so now I don't know how to take it apart. Does anybody know how?:?

Cubing history :P

I'm from the 7.08 generation, what is the story behind 12.11? why is it that legendary?

12.11 was the old 3x3 single WR set by Shotaro Makisumi in April 2004. It lasted almost 1 and a half years until Jean Pons broke it in October 2005 with a 11.75.

I have recently got into bigger cubes, currently working on 5x5. I want to get fast quickly, but i just cant get it right.
The problem with my solve is, on an average, centers take 50-60 seconds, edges 90-100 seconds, 3x3 takes 25-30 seconds.
From the last part you can judge that i m not a slow turner, but in no way are these comparable splits.
Has everyone of you been at this stage once upon a time, How do you recommend to get faster.
My centers method except last 2 centers is quite the standard one.
For edges, i see an edge, i look for 2 other edges, insert them in E layer, pair them up. then do the same with all edges(i think freeslice what they call). Last 4 edges are not that good.

All suggestions are welcome . I m not even sub3, but i m aiming for sub2 very soon

Does anyone have any tips/tricks for actually generating specific subsets of OLL? Or just setting up OLL cases in general? Reading the alg backwards is a pain and sometimes they don't actually repeat or can't be set up with another alg. The best I've come up with so far is Prisma OLL trainer. I would just do whatever scramble it was and then I could pretty easily turn that into a dot case with another OLL. This is fine, but I'm starting to learn other subsets like the P cases and I really wish I could just generate specific sets. I spend half the time just trying to set up cases...so I can actually remember what the real OLL looks like. Makes learning them a whole lot more tedious. Any ideas?

To generate scrambles to practice OLLs I used Cube Explorer instead of Prisma, because Prisma gives you longer scrambles and always the same one, and you end up guessing the OLL case.

I generated some text files with the specific OLLs I wanted to practice, see the following link:

Every time I learned a group of OLLs, I just copied the new scrambles to a text file, randomize the order and queued them on Prisma.

I hope it helps.

I found most will repeat in little more than 6 times. So what I'd do is do that alg (from memory, or by looking at it written down) and only look at the cube when it had got to the correct orientation... takes a little longer, but all the time spent getting to the correct orientation is time spend getting it into muscle memory. Following scrambles seems like a poor use of practice time.
Also I tended to learn algs in their inverse pairs, like alg A sets up a case, alg B solves is, then alg B again to set up alg A. repeat.

I just finished my V cube 6 mod, finally. I was breaking the pins in when my core became misaligned like my maru 4x4 does. Is this because one of my pins fell out? Am I going to have to glue another pin in?

Fingertricking R'FRF'?

R' F R F', this is one that I can't seem to do at speed, how do you guys trick this one?

Start: right hand on R, right index on BRU corner, holding cube with left hand
R' - whole hand
F - flick with right index
R - whole hand
F' - flick with left index
Obviously for the R face, don't do a full wrist turn.
