how hard is it to solve a square 1 using the beginner's method? compared to a 3x3 or 4x4 or something of that kind. and the algorithms, are there a lot for beginners and are they long?
I find the hardest part the cube shape, so instead of learning one way to do it. I learned the most advanced way to do the cube part. It took a little longer, but now I dont have to solve it into one shape, then apply an algorithm. I use method 2 from
this site. Its really complicated to figure out at first, but once you understand it, it makes sense. I made a chart if you need it. And I can do a video as well. If it is needed.
then I roux the bottom corners and two side edges,
then permute top corners (2 algs),
Orient edges, 3 algs
Permute edges . 2 algs - to switch the bottom edges if needed, as well as some top edges, 5 for full, but thrawsts method is simpler.
Parity. 2 - opposite and adjacent.
btw, I cant solve it from mewmory, I never practice, Im waiting to get full OLL memo'd first. but I worked out the method and all the algs into one printable sheet. But since then, I learned to roux the bottom so half the algs on the sheet are no longer needed. You can find all the algs on the site I linked to, or you could PM me and I could email you my sheet.
How is the Retooled Rubiks 4x4 different from the original one?
Here are some pics of the new one,
and the old one
