Hi SweetSolver,

This is wear I learn the Ortega method: http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Ortega
First, I solve one layer regardless the permutation, for example white layer.
Next, I use OLL to solve the top layer, for example yellow layer.
Finally, I use PBL to permutate both of the layer, solves the whole cube.

I am using the Dayan Cube.

I think he means which 2x2 you are using. Type C is probably the best, but lots of people like LanLans also.

1. Is the center-switching algorithm a feasible option if more than two centers are incomplete?
2. Are there any tutorials that go into any detail on how to use the cage method? Especially for the larger cubes (6*6*6+) The ones I have seen are either vague or have incorrect algorithms in them.

Guhong Corner Problem

I did the corner mod on my guhong yesterday, But i accidentally cut one og my guhong piece.Luckily i found a piece that i cut and here's my question
Should i glue it or leave it like that ?

Okay. Are there any algorithms than don't feel too comfortably when you perform them doing finger tricks? If there is, you can go onto something like this:

http://www.speedcubing.com/CubeSolver/MiniCubeSolver.html

...or anything else like that that has the same effect as Cube Explorer (but for 2x2 obviously) and generate other algorithms for the same case.

And what do you mean by Dayan cube? I was referring to your 2x2...

Oh, the brand is Dayan. Sorry for misunderstanding I bought it online. I think it is Type B. There doesn't seem to be any cases that I don't feel uncomfortable doing.

I just somehow recognize the PBL case slow. As in after a quick OLL, I would pause for a few seconds.

What is the average speed for solving the 2x2 cube using Ortega.

I am trying to become color neutral but how do I practice being color neutral effectively

You have two techniques you can use:
•One color a week - practice cross+f2l only on one color for a given period of time until you are completely comfortable with that color, then move on to the next one
•Just go full out color neutral (what I did). Just try to examine the cube and find the best color cross, then solve with it (I actually mean the best cross, don't just see one white piece in place and assume it is the best cross)

For both techniques, remember to just practice. If you have to go a little slower to get used to look-ahead and recognition in F2L, then do so. It's all about being used to recognition with all colors, so make sure you are very comfortable with every color.

question for yau users that do 3-2-2-3 pairing. when your doing the first 3 edges, lets say you have setup the first edge pair like this (except the centers are missallinged by a u')
imgres

like that. what do you do if the next edge you need to setup (bottom FR) is in the other edge (top FL)?

everytime time this happens in a solve i get a really slow edge pairing stage :(

EDIT: picture dosent work, sorry :/

BUMP

Well quite a few people can get sub-4 with Ortega. When you say you pause for a few seconds do you mean that literally? How long does it actually take you to recognize the PBL?

EDIT: This may sound stupid, but how much faster is Ortega than solve a layer, OLL then
PLL?
