Half bright if that's what you mean. Depending on which puzzle, but 4x4 is half bright.

What do people use to remove residue on the cube (left behind by old stickers)?

Goo gone works, you can also carefully use a razor blade, or even just soap and water and a lot of elbow grease.

I actually use crc silicone. I spray some crc on an old rag and rub it on the sticker residue and it comes out immediately. Just make sure you don't breathe in the fumes and you rub until all the sticker residue is gone and the crc is dry before putting the stickers on. (I know people are going to go crazy over this)

How can I improve at 4x4? I'm done my centers normally around 30 seconds, done the edge pairing at around 1:10 and finish the 3x3 step at around 1:50. What could I improve the most? And how?

Work on 3x3 part, then edge pairing, then centers. Try and identify why your 3x3 stage is about 40 sec. If it's look ahead, slow down. If it's transition, work on transition etc

Relating to that, are there any shortcuts to use in 4*4*4 edge pairing that I should know about? (e.g. solving for multiple edge pairs at a time, etc.)

Thanks for having me, for this is my first post/time on this forum. I am trying to get my method down to preferably under a minute but more toward 20 seconds or so. I have encountered a rather odd parity error every once in a while, and I wondered if anybody has seen it and has a solution off hand. I took a picture of it, http://i.imgur.com/ui2Oc.jpg. Hi and welcome to the forums! 
If the green and red side edges are swapped as well, then you can solve it with a Z-perm. If not, then just switch the edges manually by prying the pieces out and putting them back in, because that configuration is impossible on a legit cube

Hi all,
This is my first time posting.
I have recently learn the 2x2x2 algorithm using orthega and have been practicing for 2 weeks. I get around 11 seconds. I do not what is the next step in order to cut down the time and hit around sub-5.
