About a month ago, I got my first 4x4, a ShengShou, and I've only done maybe 60 solves on it. I think it is a decent cube, and I've gotten my average down to 2 minutes with it, but are there are mods/tricks for a ShengShou 4x4 to reduce lock-ups, and those damn occasional internal pops (having a ten minute solve, when you usually average 2 minutes, can be quite annoying :p ) ?

Edit: Would tightening the tensions reduce internal pops?

I just learned full pll. For someone who is sub-20, what is the normal time for most plls? (plus recognition time). I average around 43 and all my plls take around 6 seconds.

your not at the point where you need to worry about your pll times, i finished full pll when i averaged 26 sec,its your f2l you need to work on and get good at. i average about 15 and most of my plls are sub 2 with about 1-2 sec rec depending on the case and look ahead

If I learn all of the possible last two edges pairing algorithms for 5x5, will this help me improve a lot or if not learning all of them, which ones should I learn?
Currently, I only know the parity and the simple edge flip with the checkered side on the right. Thanks.

I average low 1:40s on 5x5, and the only actual edge-pairing alg I know is the single-tredge parity (4x4 OLL parity alg). Past that, just understand what that simple edge flip is doing intuitively, and then you can do it from any angle, along with using the same concept to do what bigcubes.com calls the "Double Edge Flip"

Why does qqtimer give me different results for my average/mean? The avg is 5.38 and the mean is 5.57. Arent average and mean the same thing?

Yes, I believe average and mean are the same thing, but in cubing it's different. For average they take your best time and your worst time, and remove them. Then they average the remaining times.

For mean, the don't remove any times, they just average all the times.

Sorry, kind of hard to explain having to use the word average and not mean a like average of 5 or anything. Hope this helped!

Well there are like four types of averages, but there's a special one for speed cubing where they remove the best and worst times.
The mean is what we'd call the 'average'
Explains why I like averages of 3. They are so easy to calculate.

...wat

can't tell if trolling...

Avg of 3 would be the same as a single solve... aka 20.00 35.00 40.00, avg of 3 = 35.00 <_<

Did you mean to say a "mean of 3"?

I think I need to practice F2l from the wiki.

Scramble: F U' R2 D2 B2 D L2 R' F U F2 U D' F' R' F' L2 D B' F U' R' B R F

Cross: x R B' R' y' D' R' D2
F2L 1: L U2 L2 U' L
F2L 2: U' R' U R
F2L 3: y U R' U2 R U L' U' L
F2L 4: U' R' U R U2 f R f'
OLL: U' R2 U R' B' R U' R2 U R B R'
PLL: x L2 D2 L' U' L D2 L' U r' U'

53 moves

I just learned the Ortega Method for the 2x2, and once in a while I get a case where I get done with OLL, and the top layer is solved, but the bottom is not solved, so I have to rotate the cube twice and do a T or Y Perm. This takes a lot longer for me since I always try get XLL cases, and I was wondering is there is any way to prevent this?

Can someone make a video explaining the Skewb notation? I know it's L-R-U-B...and I know which ones are L and R but I have no idea which one is U and which is B... (I know I sound like I'm clueless)
