Some times you see algs broken down into (). Learn them one () at a time. repeating the () part over and over will eventually get you back to a solved cube. Just takes long or short depending on the alg.

And the 5x5 should only need one new alg, unless your going to learn all L2E cases.

r U2 r U2 [R] U2 r U2 Rrw' U2 l U2 r2

I do it (r U2 r U2') [R] (U2 r U2' Rrw' U2) l (U2 r2')

Thats my L2E alg. and the only one I need beside the 4x4 edge alg.

I alread know how to switch the FD and FU inner edges in a crazy 3x3x2, but after 2 days work have yet to figure out an alg to switch FD-FU and BD-BU in one go, instead of doing my alg twice.

Does anyone know one?

Also a pure alg that switches the BU and FU inner edges for when the edges are opposite each other, my current one moves outer layer pieces as well.

Don't solve every pair in the FR slot, try going really slowly spme times and just try to get comfortable being able to solve each pair into its slot wherever it is on the cube.

Thanks - will practice this next.

My recognition has improved with slow-lookahead practice. I am sure it will improve further if I slot according to your advise.

PS: Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't it be more useful to improve the recognition first before tasking the mind with this additional problem? it may be exasperating for some...

edit: does this also mean slotting on B? hard on my old mind and fingers...:(

Yes, unfortunately :P
Do R' U R on a solved cube. You can see that it would much faster to do R' U' R than to rotate.

thanks. I can do that, tho the recognition would have to be rather good to know what is on the B face.

But I was actually worried about B' U' B or B U B (sounds like wolverine) for slotting
Edit: I thought a rotation + a RUR or R'U'R may be faster?

Oh. Yeah, don't insert with F or B moves, always use L or R.

Not always, of course sledgehammer has many uses for F2L and many cases have great RFU options like this one

Instead of y U' L' U L y' U R U' R' you can use
(U)' F' (R U R' U') R' F R which avoids 2 rotations and is super fast.
