Not always, of course sledgehammer has many uses for F2L
What I meant to say is to never use F or B for the basic insertions. I sometimes use sledgehammer (or double sledgehammer) for F2L depending on the angle.

Many cases have great RFU options like this one

Instead of y U' L' U L y' U R U' R' or R' U' R' U' R' U R U R you can use
(U)' F' (R U R' U') R' F R which avoids 2 rotations and is super fast.
Yes, I use this too (thanks, Ethan, by the way).

sorry for noob question with respect to Rpotts algo: don't you still have to rotate to set it up (assuming it does not end up in the position shown)

My question is this:

i am using ortega for 2x2 and i really don't like the alg i am using for the two adjacent on top and two adjacent on bottom. I use R2 U F2 U2 R2 U R2. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE AN ALG I MIGHT LIKE?

Swaps in front. R2 U' R2' (U2' + y) R2 U' R2' Or any other alg on the wiki

QJ 2x3x3 doesn't have springs.
Yes it does, it has 1 spring and screw to keep the 2 spindles together...

Bugger, I can't do U' because this unscrews my domino.
Removing the spring helps a bit, but it's just a matter of time and then it'll explode. :fp
And I have no other suitable screws at hand at the moment. :(
