Maybe; I assumed that when kpcube said 9 second F2L, he was including the cross (after all, last time I checked, the cross is part of the first two layers)

The definition is a little different depending on the subject or who you are talking to. Normally it is as above [including cross] but it may also refer to the part of the Fridrich method that solves the pairs without counting the cross part.

I believe it's the second part, since when people explain the steps of CFOP, it's Cross>F2L>OLL>PLL, and breakdowns usually separate cross and F2L.

Is there a name for an event where you do an average using a different method for each solve?
I was thinking of doing one but don't know what it's called.

So I'm starting to get better at 5x5 ^_^ somewhere around the 1:50s mark give or take for good or bad solves. anyway my question would be what do you focus more on in a 5x5 solve? Turning speed, or lookahead? It seems to me the inherently slow turning speed of a big cube and the nature of the solve would really exemplify the importance of look ahead? I've never really seen a "calmer turning average" but I bet it would be proportionally faster than a slow turning on a 3x3 since the puzzle is harder to turn? Thoughts?
