I have a Homer Head 2x2x2 with a broken nub off of one of the core pieces.
Any ideas to fix it?

The core is slightly larger than a standard rubik so unless someone has a spare one that's a no go.
Could I maybe put a mini Eastsheen into it as the core?
Do Rubik send out replacement parts for limited edition items?

Probably the wrong thread but I don't think it's worthy of it's own one.

Does anyone have any basic tips or know some good videos about improving on the 4x4x4 after you learn how to solve it? Like tricks for doing centers or edges more efficiently.

For edges, it just takes practice, and since your still starting out. I would learn 3-2-2-2-3, it is one of the more advanced methods. And as you practice more and more, you will get better at it.

For centers, I build two opposite colors, the a 1x2 block of all of the other colors on their respective sides, then solve the remaining 1x2 blocks, and go straight to 3-2-2-2-3 edge pairing.

i think 3-2-2-2-3 needs a new name. lol. what about T2? Stands for triple 2. or 3X2. just something short like the other methods have.

My elite is a bit slow for my liking, how would I go about speeding it up a tad?

I have d39, 30wt shock oil, lubix (^^) and CRC. And Maru of course.

The elite made by lubix?

Since I got my order from lightake, two days ago, all the puzzles I ordered turned fairly well, except for two miniQJ 4x4 which came absurdly oily making it feel like someone got a butter bar into the pieces, I wiped off some of the oil it had inside with some kitchen towels but still there is really bad turning going on, specially in the inner layers, recommendation on how to solve this trouble turning.

Edit: ¿Do this cube need that much of breaking in? I cant turning for more than a minute without getting my fingers all flaccid and hurting

Ok unscrewed a little bit the core, but some of the pieces I took out of the cube have some white markings on it, does the lube used for prelubing in factory melts the cube?

Please post if you have had any experience like this with this cube (miniQJ)

Assuming I average..23 seconds lets say (play it safe)

32'ish move F2L.
And about an 8 second last layer

Does anyone know how fast I would have to set this metronome timer so I could have a 12 second F2L and be sub 20?

Metronomes use a unit of bpm (beats per minute). You need to figure out how many tps (turns per second) you must do in order to solve in 12 seconds, then convert your necessary tps into bpm.

An example with easier numbers, then I'll leave you to figure out your personal necessary bpm. Let's say that you can solve the cube in 60 turns. You would like to solve the cube in 30 seconds. This means you must do \( \frac{60 turns}{30 seconds} = 2 tps \)

Now you must find the equivalent bpm for 2 tps. A minute has 60 seconds, and you must do 2 turns every second.
\( \frac{2turns}{second} * \frac{60 seconds}{minute} = \frac{120turns}{minute} = 120bpm \)

And you would set the metronome at 120bpm.

Thanks a bunch both of you! :fp @ how obvious it should have been to me.

No worries. We actually teach these kinds of unit conversions in the college algebra class at my school. Like any math topic, it's just something you need to see a couple times (and practice a couple times) and you'll be able to use it for all kinds of things.

I heard you shouldn't go from the Rubik's brand to a Guhong or other really fast cube after a short time after starting cubing. Why is that and what would be a good cube to go to after a Rubik's?

It's up to you when you change equipment. I taught someone on a GuHong and that's all he's ever used. He seems to be developing just fine.

I use a metronome quite frequently, so I would recommend a lower bpm, around 80, before you go higher. The point of a metronome is to get rid of delays, so the slower you go the less delays you have.

I started at 60, and increase 5 every week. I try to do 5 solves every day as well.

with what finger should i do the first L of the J perm L U' R' U L' U2 R U' R' U2 R

I am currently using my left wrist for the L,which leaves me in a bad position to do the U'
Put your left index on DBL and then do the L.

Not true, if you go to what you think is the best cube right away, you save the money and hassle of getting worse ones and realizing they aren't good enough. Although you may eventually want to get more to compare them, there is no real reason to work your way up.
