What algorithm do you use for orienting the corners in the bowtie OLL?

I'm using R' F' L' F R F' L F now and it works, but I'm not a huge fan of it or any of the others on the wiki so hopefully you guys will have some better ones.

For that one and the other two corner one(not the headlights) I use the E perm halves.

so it would be y Lw U' R' D R U D'

And since my E perm is around 1.5, I can easily sub 1 both of those OLLs.


How do you replace pins?
Ive tried digging out the glue, but there still isn't room for them cuz I cant get it all out.

Carefully use acetone on a Q-tip to dissolve the glue. Be careful or you can wreck the plastic of your cube.

when the F2l pair you track through your cross ends up as a tough case is it better to take the time to do a quick look for an eaiser one and hope it makes that eaiser later or solve it and maybe sac some look ahead?

When you're first getting used to tracking pieces through cross and looking ahead slove what you see. As your look ahead and tracking skills increase solve the best case you see.

So then I should attempt to track multiple pairs? Now I pick one and how it ends up is how it ends up and I sort of just deal with it but sometimes that adds like 4-5 secs to my f2l

If you average about 27 seconds, and I'm going from you sig here, work on just tracking one. It really shouldn't take more than 4 seconds to insert an F2L pair for you even if its the worst possible case with two cube rotations. Once you see the case you should know how to solve it.

When I'm solving if I see two pairs and one of them is something I despise..I will do the other one in hopes of breaking up the other one. If I know it wont then I either start tracking a 2nd pair or I just deal with it and do the case.

Yeah, like Eric said if you immediately see another pair then go for that one but if you see nothing else don't abandon the bad case and spend two seconds scanning the cube for another one.

When I am tracing a pair and I see that it is going to be a bad case, I add an extra move or two to make it easier.

ex. the cross I found during inspection is
R D' R2 B D F D'

But the edge I was tracking would end up misoriented in the slot.

So instead, my cross would become R D' R2 B F U F' L2.
and sometimes I might add a hammer at some point to set up an easier case
ex. Cross D2 L' B' D R' L'
hammer cross ex. Cross D2 L' B' D (R' U R U') R' L'


Those arnt actual cases, just real crosses, and where I would apply the moves, if the bad case were to happen.

im trying to decide which cube to buy and im fairly certain this is the right one for me but what is the difference between black and white???

there is no difference it's just which colour do you want under stickers (color of plastics) but if i can advise, many people say that alpha V and type F-II are best cubes, but i didn't try any of these cubes... I love Dayan GuHongs, but they are hard to obtain nowadays :/

i didn't find anything about centers, for me they're pretty much intuitive

Um GuHongs are very easy to obtain. Try cube depot or speedcubeshop of Lightake or china magic cube. You can get them on a ton of sites. And GuHongs are amazing. After some quick mods it makes my A-V look like a dollar cube.


Try lancetheblueknight for a good way to do 4x4 centers and Robert Yau's YouTube channel for a good edge pairing method.

on speedcubeshop they're out of stock and probably they won't restock it because they don't make them (V-cube patent, there are some threads about it), NEVER order from Lightake, I payed for EMS 24$ and after three weeks only thing they're saying is "shipped" and when I looked, most of people have issues with it... i don't know china magic cube, but as I said, noone is making any new GuHongs so they'll slowly disappear from stores

If you'd actually kept up with the threads you'd know V-Cube announced that they were going to lay off the Guhong as well as the Maru 4x4. There's no reason for them to "slowly disappear". I agree with you about Lightake though, their shipping is horrendous :S
