I just got a Maru 4x4x4 (my first cube that I can tension) and it seems I can pull apart the center pieces except for a single line that goes all the way around the cube. Which screws would I adjust to fix this, or is it supposed to be like that?

Yellow, orange, white, red (in a vertical line only, they can pull apart horizontally) but isn't it all relevant because I can make the centers on whatever side I want?

You might have a lock up that's common on the Maru 4x4s to fix that re-aline the internal middle layers.

I know this might be a stupid question but what is Fullstep?

Do optimal scramblers take into account that some cases have symmetry and have a higher chance of occurring?

I don't understand how some states have higher chances of occuring. But to explain how random state scrambles work: Disassemble and reassemble your cube, and make sure it is solvable.

I have a friend who says he was a speedcuber when he was younger and averaged under a minute, but he's now forgotten all of it.

Can someone who learns a cube so well that he can solve it in a minute actually forget how to do so?

I learned the beginner method about 8 years ago while I was in the Army. When I picked up the cube again after not messing with it for years, I forgot a couple of the algorithms (I think Sune and Nicklas), but I relearned them pretty quickly.

Yes, there's a common phenomenon called pruning that causes someone to lose unimportant memories as they age. It shouldn't be completely forgotten, though, just a little refresher should be all it takes. And maybe relearning the algs as well.

Is there somewhere with easy Megaminx PLL's. I'm not looking to learn a lot. Maybe 10 or so for now.

At the bottom of the page are the different subsets.
