Good luck. You are going to have to progress at about 1 second a month. Actually if you just focus on that, I think you could do it. 15 to 10 is really hard though but good luck. With that in mind, maybe I will try to get down to 10 seconds... a 1 second difference is a lot though. I mean the first month you could just work on TPS and sub steps. Then second month just solve, then third month lookahead and optimizing algorithms, then fourth month solves, then fifth month TPS and lookahead. You could even just do it on a weekly basis. I don't know because it seems to be all good in theory but actually being able to do it will be hard.

IMO you should do it on a daily basis and have as much variety as possible- not monthly, but that's just my opinion.

You saw, I used to experiment with lots of different methods, switch to different methods for a couple of weeks...

My original question:
Dont wanna make a new thread, just want opinions.
Do you think that over time, one could sub 10?
Cause 5BLD got sub 10 EXTREMELY fast and it worries me that I keep having these plateaus and maybe ill never be sub 10.
Am i worrying too much? What do you guys think?

What do you think 5BLD?

Of course anyone could if they believe they could. I honestly don't mind much about my improvement, I just let it go. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who hasn't plateaued yet.

The things I see that I did that others who are striving to improve quickly don't are stuff like exploring a wide range of stuff. For example I switched back to CFOP for a few weeks back when I was an annoying little noob, then used Roux for a while, switched to Waterman, used it for a while then used 'Waterman' and eventually back to Roux. For a while I also used 'Waterman' alongside Waterman and Petrus too.

So yeah IMO exploring new stuff really helps.[/QUOTE]

Also, I think you worry too much. Thats what YOU told ME a while ago and it was, and is true for me too :D

How is Waterman different from "Waterman"?

Weren't you there when I was experimenting with improvements for Waterman and started using this pseudo Waterman thingy and called it Waterman cuz I was a noob?
That's 'Waterman'.

Random question: Are you allowed to have cubes in prison? Not that I think I'm ever going to prison, but they would be good to pass the time if you were in there for a while. And you would have the time to work on time consuming stuff like 8x8 BLD, creating a new method etc.

Random Thoughts (nothing to do with question, just had to put them out there):
It would make a cool prison escape story if someone were to send you a scrambled treasure chest cube with a few lockpicks and a knife inside, and you went from there. But I doubt it would be allowed in.
Someone should make a 'Things to do with a Treasure Chest cube' thread.
Someone should make a cube that falls apart when you solve it somehow.
It would make a funny Saw scene if Jigsaw said: "There is a key in this (indestructible) treasure chest cube. You have 2 minutes until the bear trap on your head snaps shut to solve it, collect the key and escape." *Victim nearly solves the cube* Jigsaw: "LOL I twisted a corner" *Snap*

Slightly Less Random Question: Are treasure chest cubes (compartments inside) possible for bigger cubes such as 4x4 and 5x5? Cube in a cube would have a whole new meaning. :D

Yeah when I was typing I realized that spending a month on one thing was probably ridiculous. Maybe a weekly thing where you are still mixing in other stuff but you are mainly focusing on 1 thing.

Lingyun V2 tension problems

Hey, my friend gave me a Lingyun v2 to start off my speedcubing "career", but I do not know how to tension it so that it works to its best potential. I say this, because I have seen and heard about lingyun v2's that can cut 45 degrees and don't pop, while mine cannot cut close to 45 degrees and pops occasionally. Should it be relatively tighter, or relatively looser to improve its corner cutting while preventing its popping issues. Thanks

To a certain extent I have noticed the corner cutting better when it is a little tight. Given, my perspective of tight is off because I always keep my cubes loose in the words of other cubers so I would say that when your cube it slightly looser than the medium, corner cutting is ideal.

thanks, my cube is really loose so i guess ill try tightening it. does lubrication assist in cutting corners as well? Also, popping decreases with a tighter cube, right?

Lubrication is also very important. A smooth cube with a smooth surface is better for cutting and general cubing. Almost any "popular" lube from Jigaloo to Lubix will do too.

Yeah i bought some 3 in one "silicone lubricant", but it didnt work too well on my rubik's brand, so i dont really want to put it on my lingyun v2. i guess ill try and find/order one of the more established lubricants. thanks

Hi guys, Can anyone please help me find better algorithms for these ZBLL cases ?
