F2L Help: Preserving Solved Pairs

So recently I've been practicing lots of 3x3, and I've run into quite a few cases where I'm about to connect and insert a pair, and realize there's already a solved one. If I ditch the current pair I'm solving and insert the other connected pair, it takes up some time, cos I'll have to search for the previous pair I was doing.

Another common case is when the cube is scrambled and I see a solved pair during inspection, but I somehow can't avoid disturbing it when solving the cross.

I've also considered tracking the connected pair while solving, but in the end they break up and turn into really slow F2L cases, so I find its no use tracking them.

Thus, I'm thinking of learning some tricks where I can preserve the connected pair so I can save some time. :p

Quick question:
I want a new 4x4 (I have a rubik's brand), but since I have very small hands, I'm wanting to get one that's "mini". Which ones would you guys recommend?

Woah! hold on a moment. someone recommended a mini QJ? Nobody uses QJ anymore. As far as I can tell the mini QJ is 6cm... at the same size is the ShengShou V3, which is a much better cube and only $10.

I don't think that's what he meant. I think he meant he wanted a 4x4 that is small. But, I do agree with your opinion on Shengshou v3. It's a great cube :)

I was planning to learn EJF2L since I use ZZ. It orients one D-Layer corner while simultaneously orienting corners of the last layer, using 2 gen algs. I wanted to know, if I inserted 2/3/4 corners misoriented, how many algs would it require to orient all the corners of the cube? Would the algs be 2 gen if I had 2 twisted corners, and placed them on the right side with a D/D'/D2 turn?
EJF2L is 16 algs so that satisfies all 1 D layer twisted corner cases.
I'd mainly like to know the number of cases (and if algs are performable 2/3 gen) for 2 adjacent D corners twisted, and 2 diagonal D corners twisted. I think 3/4 corners mostly won't be of any use (too many algs). Also 2 diagonal corners can't be done 2 gen, won't be as fast.
Also, should I make a thread or post somewhere else for opinions, etc?

Yeah, I was mostly replying to the other post where someone said to get a mini QJ, but I quoted the original in the hopes that the person who asked the question may be more likely to notice my reply - hopefully before he buys a QJ.

I am having problem with my stackmat. The "reset" button does not always work, and sometimes I have to push it many times. Anyone else having this problem and can give me som tips about what to do or what the problem is?

How long before I get sub1min on a 3x3? I've been cubing just shy of 2 months and do 20-30 solves a day. My average rite now is 75 seconds. I'm learning intuitive f2l and 2 look oll & pll. Also how quick can I get with 2 look? Thanks

not that long try not to spend 5 seconds looking for the part that you need to place into the correct place

I'm tryin to get quicker at f2ls. Looking ahead is becoming easir but I still have trouble finding cubies. Any tips? I've gotten alot quicker at the LL. I know most of my solve time is eaten up by f2l.

do all pll and oll Algs one at a time practice them untill you know them with out looking at the Alg sheet

Make sure to solve F2L without any pauses; turn as slow as you need to in order to do this. For tracking pieces, try to remember which cubies are in which F2L slots. That way, you know where some pieces are without having to look for them. Another thing that helps is to sort of hold your cube at an angle, so that you can see two sides instead of one.

He's asking for F2L help, not OLL and PLL.
