I didn't want to start a new thread but I was wondering if anyone can point me at a good video or tutorial on fingertricks? I just need to know generally what fingers I should be using to make what turns.
I've learned all my PLL's and probably about half my OLL's (around 35s avg) but in solving the 5x5 I got for Christmas I realized that I don't really 'know' the moves, they're all muscle memory, because when I get to the end of the 5x5 I start the progression of moves but since it's a store bought the first time it locks it wrecks the flow of it and I'm completely lost.
So I'm worried that if I don't start learning the proper way to move the cube now I might never be able to make the progression. Inefficient turning and excessive cube rotations are a couple of the things really slowing me down at this point.

When timing your solves with a stackmat timer you slam the cube on the table when stopping the timer can it help break in the cube?

This is the T-perm, which is my fastest PLL. I have solved it in 1.01 with my finger tricks, but I know that many other are doing different.
Those 2 bolded turns am I doing with my left index finger, but I know that many are using their right thumb. I am feeling faster with my index finger, but I do not know if I can get as fast as with my thumb? I wonder if it is worth to change?

Practice both ways until doing it with your right thumb feels comfortable. Then decide which way is faster.

I've tried using the right thumb and to be honest, it's very "sexy" and smooth and such, but I can never seem to do it fast in a solve.

I personally find right thumb to be faster to the F'. I've never seen anyone use their right thumb for the U' in the middle of the alg, only left index finger

Ya I find this pretty nice too but as you say it's slower than left index... Unless it's used where your left hand is not there to do it and/or right index to push. Where you have something like LRU'RB'

Well, I was mainly talking about the last quarter of the T-Perm. The part: R U R' F'.
Because if I don't use my thumb for R U R' F', my hand has to leave the cube and do a cube rotation to do R U R' F'. But I have seen a lot of people do F' with their right thumb though.

No, I use my left index. I'm trying to switch to right thumb. It shouldn't be as hard because it's quite smooth.

I ordered a SS 6x6 from speedcubeshop and it came in three days iirc. I live near Buffalo, right across the border. It will obviously take longer since it's international but it should get to you in less than a week.

I got an email saying it was shipped on the 21st, and the tracking says it's still in CA. Could it be busy due to the holiday season maybe?
