I just learned the Ortega Method for the 2x2, and once in a while I get a case where I get done with OLL, and the top layer is solved, but the bottom is not solved, so I have to rotate the cube twice and do a T or Y Perm. This takes a lot longer for me since I always try get XLL cases, and I was wondering is there is any way to prevent this?
You could learn fast T and Y perms for the D layer.

Either incredible inspection, or learn algs for when the case is on D.

Can someone make a video explaining the Skewb notation? I know it's L-R-U-B...and I know which ones are L and R but I have no idea which one is U and which is B... (I know I sound like I'm clueless)

This might help. You might be using a different notation though.

Are cubing and algorithms like song lyrics?

I heard a song today that I literally haven't heard in years. Probably 10 or more years to be exact, after a few moments I realized what song it was. Once the lyrics began, I knew every word, as if I'd just listened to the song the day before. Does cubing work the same way? If I were to for some reason stop for 10 years, would I be able to pick up a cube and after a few moments of refresher be able to solve it?

I think we need someone to test that for you. Feliks, where'd you go???

No seriously I think it is, I mean I can do some algs once and have it in my head forever.

You should try and find out

In all seriousness, I don't know exactly how to answer the question. You may be able to solve it, but likely not with full OLL and PLL or any large alg sets like that.

...

I honestly believe that full algorithm sets would be forgotten, but the basic cubing intuition would still be there. For example, you would probably be able to still block build F2L (if you're a Fridrich solver), but I imagine huge chunks of OLL or PLL would be forgotten. Concepts like commutators would not be forgotten, but which commutator is used in a specific case might need to be rediscovered. That's my theory anyway.

I'm basing this off the fact that I have no recollection of older algs I've replaced. The muscle memory of executing them is probably burned into my subconscious, but without any conscious way to activate that memory I cannot recall any previous version of OLLs I've replaced, only the algs I currently use. I feel that with a 10 year hiatus from cubing, that most of my currently used algs would be in a similar boat. If I were to read off the first 3-4 turns of a forgotten alg, I believe that the muscle memory would take over at that point, but without that catalyst to start the remembering they would remain forgotten.

hi, i have a question
i really want a 2x2, but my parents think the cube will be too easy and i won't cube with it, even though i play with all the cubes i have. what do i do? i don't want to have to use a 4x4 for the rest of my life.

How can I improve my times for 4x4 centers and edge?

(Yes, besides practicing.)

I'm averaging 20-23 seconds right now, with almost full OLL and full PLL. Can anyone give me an estimate for how fast my PLLs should be? I just drilled a bit. I average barely sub-2 with 2 of them, and the majority are between 2 and 3, and I have 2 or 3 that are sup-3. Is this normal? :P

That's pretty much the same as me (a couple more sub 2), and I'm around the same time.
