HOLY CRAP RAIZ!!! Are all of your post on this thread. I mean is it necessary to ask every single question that comes to mind? And really I don't think you need to say thank you to everyone who answers your question. At first it's cool you are so appreciative but it has to stop at a point man.

bump: Does anyone know of any tutorials for the 4x4 showing methods that solve both the center and the edges at the same time? I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kgWn...el_video_title and I understand what's happening but not HOW. Does someone know of another video that explains this? Or could someone explain this method to me in text? thanks.

Don't make my message disappear again raiz! kthanks.

Interesting. Mind sharing what you use for that case then? I was just used to doing it because that is what I used to use for that OCLL when starting out fridrich and I never bothered looking for another. I know you can sub 2 all of yours.

I use R U R' d R' U R U' R2 F R F' R, which I can sub-1.4. The d can be awkward to get used to, but the part after it as fast (if not more) than multiple sexy moves for me.

Ok so... I've got a question.
I decided not to create a whole new post even though it's a kinda long question =P.
Anyway, basically I've been cubing for only around three weeks and until a few days ago have just been using the normal layer by layer method (as taught from a friend). Over the past few days however I've decided to start learning Fridrich in my spare time and it's been going really well, I've been able to learn 2look pll and oll in a few days and am comfortable performing the 14 new algorithms I've learned. I've also been getting better at using intuitive F2L, which has increased my overall fridrich times... The problem is that my times are still much higher than that of when I perform the normal method... I notice that I don't look ahead as much performing Fridrich and normally take more pauses.. But I don't really understand how 4Look last layer, by itself, can shave 5-10 seconds off your time from normal method- which is what I've heard.

Basically I'm interested in how long you guys practiced 4Look oll and intuative F2L (or both combined if you're like me) before your times started to get better. I'm aware that I've not practiced them for that long and that it'll become faster but using the normal method for the last layer seems very fast compared to 4look oll...

the first last layer method I learned was a 4 look last layer (I never used R' D' R D xinfinity for corner orientation) but it took me several days of practice with f2l to get as fast as I was before with beginners layer by layer. It's all about practice, drill your algs until they are completely ingrained in your muscle memory, and also learn to recognize the shapes and patterns they make efficiently.

Yeah I guess practice will always make it easier and faster, it's just that that movement, R' D' R D, is soooo fast when corner orientating and the other algs are also very fast. I guess if I just keep practicing and use 4look ll and f2l in every solve I'll get faster..

I'm also interested if it'd be worth learning all PLL earlier or just continue to drill 4look rather than learn 3look?

Ok thanks, I guess I'll just keep practicing and learn the PLL algs based on their probability of coming up :). Atm I know Ua, Ub, Aa, Ab, H, Z, E. But I think I'll try to leanr T, Y and J cause J's seem to pop up a lot and Y would be a good sub for E for 2 look I reckon.

Edit

I was just thinking... I also don't understand how people can get so fast at f2l? It takes me a fair bit of time to work out what to do intuitively an even though my recognition has got loads better it still takes me a while to work out what to pair first and what not..

Stick with it MoRpHiiNe, it's always much slower to move to a new method, but a little bit of practice and you should really see the benefits. F2L in particular is something that you'll always be improving on.

Here's a question, I just noticed that there are little dots beside our usernames which seem to indicate when a user is online or not. How long have they been there cause I only just noticed them?
