Tension and lube it for sure. I just lubed it again, after a few months, and it's much better. Also, when I got it, it seemed to have internal pops, so I played with the tensions, and that made it great.

Lube it with either shock oil or lubix. A great way to break it in is to tighten it all the way, then play around with it for a while.

Any idea on how to lube it? I have never even dissambled it.

I posted this as a thread, however I was told to post it as a one answer...
This is about the 4x4(I forgot to specify in the post):
Hi, I was wondering if there is a pure dedge flip that I can use that does not mess with centers at all OR swaps them in a perpendicular to the dedge being flipped, so that you can do something like r parity r' without it messing up the centers. Sorry if there is a post somewhere about this, I couldnt find one.

All dedge flip algorithms must affect centers somehow. The interchangeability of center pieces is what makes "OLL parity" possible on a 4x4.

Wrong! Pure edge swap can be done without affecting centers. In the yahoo blindsolving group, cmhardw mentioned the following alg, but it's just the standard alg followed by a 3x3x3 supercube alg for rotating the U center 180 degrees.

r2 B2 U2 l U2 r' U2 r U2 F2 r F2 l' B2 r2 R L U2 L' R' U' R L U2 L' R' U'

I imagine better algs exist. Since the standard alg only affects the U centers, you could do something like r F' z parity z' F r' for the case you mentioned. I note that cmowla's "Holy Grail" algorithm only affects L centers so r holy_grail r' would work.

Hmm, I guess I don't understand parity as well as I would like to think. How is it so that only 2 pieces can be switched?
