I lost a center cap to my A-V so have had to switch to my Guhong. I hate it, feels wrong. So I am going to buy another A-V but was wondering if the new one is going to feel like the old one minus the break in period. Have you bought multiple cubes of the same type and had them be inconsistent or since they aren't store bought are quite close to each other. If they are I am going to get 3 A-Vs and never have to worry about this problem again.

If you want to learn square-1 without guides, it can be done; it just requires patience.

Here's what I did:
1. Play with it a while just learning how to get it to square. That's a challenge in and of itself. When I figured it out myself, I did already know that one of the keys was that you had to get it to square first, and then figure out ways to solve it from there. It's really worth it once you get it to square to scramble it up and try again and again. Watch what happens as you scramble it, so you can learn from it. After a while, you'll figure out ways to get some of the more common cases solved, and you can eventually get it to where you can always get it square. There are only 90 different cases of shapes, so it can never be all that bad to get it to square - you'll eventually luck into it.
2. Once you get it square, start trying to do simple repetitive things that never go more than a move or two from square, and figure out where the pieces go as a result. Eventually you'll find a few algorithms that move just a few pieces at a time and leave the rest alone. You'll use them to solve it.
3. Eventually you'll probably solve it because you got lucky and didn't get parity. When you get there, congratulations! You're halfway there! :)
4. If you're crazy like me and want to be able to say you came up with a complete method on your own, now you need to look for a parity algorithm. You can do what I did - just do a bunch of crazy moves, keeping track of what you did, to get fairly far away from square, and then do something different to get back to square. If you're lucky, it will change parity, and then you can solve it again, this time knowing you won't get parity. Then I figure you legitimately have a complete solving method.

Have fun! I'm really glad I figured it out on my own. It took me about 3 weeks.

Im still on my way to become full PLL with only Ns, V and F left to learn, an the way I solved these last two cases was just ineffective (setup + Tperm + undo):

V perm: R' U' R U' R' U' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' U R U R' U R
F perm: R' U' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' U R

The alg for the F perm flows really nice, but a t with that many set up moves for the V its really uncomfortable, and since my tps are not that high this alg comes really long and slow for me.

Any suggested algs for this cases? N perm suggestions?
I use that F perm but for the V I'd recommend (R' U R' U') y x2 (R' U R' U') l2 F' (R' F R F)
Preform it as (R' U R' d') x (l' U R' U') l2 F' (R' F R F)

I watched Camcuber's review of the Dayan Lingyun and I am considering buying it. I really liked the pink colored plastic in the video. Does anyone know of where (If you can even buy it) to find a Pink colored Dayan Lingyun? Preferably a shop located in the USA?

I want to throw my square-1... Just the feeling of a non-square puzzle is annoying the hell out of me...

I looked up how to get it square, no real guide makes sense, I have left fist on top, square on bottom, does anyone have the algorithm to get it square from there?

sq-1 makes me angry. right when i got mine i spent forever learning how to do it from a guide and then never touched it again. its like andrew kang's hated of skewbs

For this algorithm: (y2) R' U2 R U R' z R2' U R' D R U' would it be quicker to not do the z and just do R' U2 R U R' U2 L U' R U L'? Because, in theory, don't cube rotations take longer to do that just moves? I was wondering this because I was drilling it and hated having to rotate the cube to get it to it's original position again :P

Do this to setup what I mean. You guys aren't understanding.

r2 B2 U2 l U2 r' U2 r U2 F2 r F2 l' B2 r2
y2
r2 B2 U2 l U2 r' U2 r U2 F2 r F2 l' B2 r2
y2

Go.

Edit-Figured out an intuitive way myself, bring the center over, flip it by taking it out/insert it in different angle, and realign..
