In theory, your global average would be if you could completely halt improvement (as well as not getting worse) at your current point in your cubing progression, solve an infinite number of cubes, and take the average of all of them. Of course, times fluctuate from day to day, you never know if you're improving past a wall or not, or if its just a lucky day, etc. So global average is just taking a guess at what that first figure would be.

A decent way is to figure this to graph out your best average of 1/5/12/100/1000, etc, and find a relatively accurate asymptote. Or you can just eyeball it. It usually won't be too much slower than your best average of 100

would the gap in speed between a rubik's brand and a better cube like the aolong (or zhanchi or weilong or *insert cube of your choice here) increase or decrease depending on how fast you are?
For example if you are sub 10 on your main cube would the difference be more less or about the same switching to a rubik's brand than if you could only average a minute?
i hope that made sense sorry if it didnt!

Most people who are over a minute are still wrist turning anyway, so in that example I would say it would affect the sub-10 person more. But after you start fingertricks, probably it would affect most people the same percentage-wise

OK, I cannot be the only speedsolver over the age of 21 who frequents this forum. I imagine this has been asked before, but given my current state I truly don't care to search. What is your fastest solve, of your favorite puzzle, after you've had a few? Just finished a few delicious craft IPA's, when sober I average about a 17 second 3x3 solve. I just did an average of 12 while drunk. My fastest solve was 19.xx seconds, my slowest, 34.xx seconds. The average was 27.xx seconds.

I am often faster on 7x7 when I am drunk/high. I usually average about 5 when I am sober but while I average maybe 10 seconds slower when intoxicated, I can get faster than normal singles. My best 3x3 single was 7.24 and my 7x7 was 4:31.

This is a great description. I think the wiki would benefit from such a description on the page for averages:

Countries that have a legal drinking age of 21+ are in the minority :P

2 years ago, I got a 39.xx drunk ao30 when I was averaging about 33. But I think it would make less of an impact now.

Also I got my current 5BLD PB after a few. It helps that I don't do 5BLD much.

*has a feeling that this is in the wrong thread* Does lubing cubes always have a positive effect? What I mean is that I have an Aolong v2 that I like but I'm worried about ruining it by lubing it. If I like the way it feels, I shouldn't have to lube it, right?

No, lubing does not always have a positive affect. If you like the way it feels there is no need to lube it.

For the most part, lubing a cube can only go wrong in one of two ways, only one of which is ruinous:

1) You have used the wrong lube. This could be something as simple as using the wrong weight for what you want to do, or something as bad as putting vaseline or WD-40 in your cube. These are harmful and will degrade the quality of the plastic, making your cube irreversibly awful.

2) You have used too much lube. This will make the cube slow down alot, and feel very 'gummy'. This is an easy fix however, as all you have to do is wipe out the lube by wiping down all of the pieces thoroughly and putting it back together.

Haven't learnt an alg in a long time, and cubing is getting a little boring so I want to learn 1 set of ZBLL. Any suggestions? Which set is the easiest for recognition and execution?

any tips 4 skewb layer building? mine sometimes takes over 3 seconds :(
Edit: nope probably longer
