It appears to be a manual from 1982. The author was inventing the notation to explain it to a lay audience.

I just got my megaminx on father's day. Modded it about two days later. I did layer by layer the first two solves. Then I jumped into F2L and was using Odder's last layer guide as a cheat sheet but that might be a little too much to start with. I found MM&∏'s video and dang that was easy for the last layer and the algs were 2gen and short. It permutes the corners before orienting and I hadn't seen that and it really worked for me. Sadly MM∏'s vid has a one corner at a time orienting that would be very long in some cases. A guy named Blue Knight had a different beginners guide where he oriented the corners one at a time in the other direction. It was complimentary to MM&∏'s thing. I could mix and match these orienting commutators for whatever way any corner was twisted and the cube would be solved at the end. That was awesome to know. I had heard the meffert's guide was good for this orient two corners alg and it doesn't appear that was the case. I still thank Zeotor for satisfying my curiosity.

Orienting One corner at a time:
MM&∏--- (R' D' R D)2
BK------- (D' R' D R)2

D=Dfr for both these

I dont remember where i learned but my last layer is
orient edges FRURUF and siblings
Permute edges Sune and siblings
Orient corners is what i mentioned above
and permute corners with keyhole

I guess we all have to thank friedrich for simple notation. If she is the one that started it.

Does anyone know the minumum number of moves required to solve a 2x2?

I know someone once calculated that a 3x3 is 17 if i remember correctly.

I think you want to ask God's number for 2x2...
"The 2x2x2 cube has 3,674,160 possible positions (assuming one piece is always solved from orienting the puzzle), each of which can be solved in 11 turns (HTM) / 14 turns (QTM) or fewer."
http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/2x2x2

As for the 3x3, it is 20 in HTM. In QTM, it is 26 at least and 29 at most.

That was extremely interesting. I wish I knew math enough to calculate all that for corners only. lol

Im looking for the chart that shows what percent of scambles can be solved in X amount of moves.

On another note, what is a good started BLD method? I plan to learn corners first with a 2x2 then learn edges.

Thanks in advance

After a sufficient scramble is would still be 1. His sarcasm is because you mean maximum not minimum.

No, I meant minimum. Maximum would be infinite.

1 is only applicable in 18 out of 3,000,000+ cases. God's number is 11.

Wat? Its 11 HTM

Yes, I know this. I am looking for a chart that shows
0 moves = 1/3,000,000+
1 move = 18/3,000,000+
2
3
4
etc.

Like at the end of the video.

also use the edit button instead of double posting.

I am glad to see that after two years of being away the forum is exactly the same.

Hey, I was just wondering, does anybody know what brand of differential oil Feliks Zemdegs uses to oil his cube? Both my ZhanChi 3x3 and Shengshou 4x4 need oiling, and idk what to buy.

He doesn't just use one brand, it varies with time.

But brand doesn't really matter. Many people use traxxas, but I think so long as it's silicone-based and there's not too much other stuff in it it's fine. Try to stick with 30k-50k weight though for general purposes.
