1) What is a good alg for the 2 edge swap on 4x4 (not parity, but where there are 2 unpaired edges)?

2) What is the main difference between a ShengShou 4x4 v4 and a v5? (Structural)

3) The inner layers on my 4x4 turn awesomely but the outer layers catch a lot and lock up like crazy. How do I resolve this? Should I adjust the tensions?

1) d R U R' F R' F' R d
2) Details in video: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?41061-Shengshou-4x4-v5
3) Is it new? It might need some breaking in (lockups reduced on my SS4 v4 after breaking in. If you've already broken it in, then tension it between an eighth and a quarter turn tighter. Repeat until ideal tensions set.

Thanks ...3) I just got it day before yesterday and have done 10-15 solves on it.. so I will try breaking it in for a week or two.

Which viscosity is good for large cubes (SS 4x4 and 5x5 in this case)? I use 65k for my 3x3 but I read that lighter lubes are better for bigger cubes.

When it's about popping, what is calculated as DNF? 3 or more pieces pop or what?

if the pieces can only be put back into the solved position, then its solved:

0 on 2x2
1 on 3x3 (centre cap)
5 on 4x4
10 on 5x5
18 on 6x6
27 on 7x7 (but 24 of them have to be 1 whole centre, and the other 3 have to be an inner wing and an outer wing and a centre cap)

edit:

which is \( N^2-\frac{7N}{2}+4+\frac{3(\text{cos}(N\pi)-1)}{4}-(N+1)(\text{mod 2}) \) on an NxN rubix cube i think

Consider that there is an evil guy who try to put your popped pieces back in the wrong way.
If he could not do that, then your solution is correct. Otherwise, it is DNF through the pop.
So, in a 3x3x3, if you finish your solving with one center piece popped, then your solution is valid. But with two popped pieces, it is not (the evil guy can put those centers back in the wrong way).

On a 4x4x4, you can have 4 popped centers with the same color(!), and one edge. Because the evil guy can assemble your cube in only one way, and it would be the solved state.

"5b5) If parts of the puzzle are still defective or not fully placed at the end of the attempt, the result is recorded as the worst state obtainable by repairing the puzzle (see Regulation 5b3)."

I think this question could be interpreted in 2 different ways; "How many pieces can be popped when the timer is stopped", or "how many pieces can be popped during the solve and reinserted while timer is still running".
