I want to get quicker, but I am not really sure how to improve on my times. My pb is 23.45 and my average is just under 33 seconds. I use Fridrich f2l, I know full pll and 2-look oll. Apart from learning full oll which I will do soon, how can I improve my pb and average?

Basically what KingTim96 said, I'd also say look ahead is the key, not only Between the F2L pairs but also in the rest of transitions, Cross to F2L, F2L to EO, EO to CO and that to PLL. Force yourself to do as many slow solves as you can everyday.

Check out the link in my sig and approach this scientifically.
1) Figure out exactly what is your weakest area. (spreadsheet in thread in sig)
2) Practice mindfully until it is not. (advice in thread in sig, and other stuff on forum/youtube/etc)
3) Repeat until sub 7.

How to break in a lubed cube?

Hey, just lubed my cube for the first time using CRC Heavy Duty Silicon, but it isn't seeming to work. (Feels really sticky) is this normal? Thanks!

(By the way, searched for this and didn't find a specific answer.)

It is better to add a little first. If that does not work to your liking, add some more. It is easier to add than remove lube.
And if it is sticky, you might have added too much.

When doing F2L I heard being colour neutral with your cross can be handy?

handy? yes.
advantageous? yes.
worth it? probably not.

there are 2 ways to be colour neutral, either to force yourself use all the colours somehow or learn and start cubing using all the colours.

if you start with colour neutrality:
- it's harder to get into a mindless routine/habit of solving. it will happen, but it takes more time since every solve is very different
- F2L becomes harder to learn
- you could confuse yourself when recognizing colour patterns; could take longer to learn stuff

if you transition to colour neutrality:
- it takes lots of practice and discipline to get used to it
- it also takes time to be confident with using all the colours
- you could give up and not gain anything from it
- the amount of time spent transitioning could be used for improving important parts of your solving

being an odd person, when my average was about 20 seconds i switched to being colour neutral. it took about 2 weeks to start, and i half- gave up after practicing 4 colours in total. after about another month of non-disciplined random colour neutral practice i was completely colour neutral, with some colours slower than others. after a few more weeks i was fully and comfortably colour neutral.

pros: i can do the cross faster (saves less than a second on average).
cons: i lost weeks of practice time

it's up to you if you wanna do it or not, there's a thread on this topic too.

a good compromise if you want better crosses but don't want to put in the time, is partial colour neutrality.
basically you learn how to solve the cross on opposite colours, like white + yellow. the colour patterns are recognized the same way and they look similar too. it doesn't take much time to learn yellow, although gaining confidence with it may take some time. if you really don't like the cross, you should give this a try.

Re: The One Answer Question Thread

1) What is a good alg for the 2 edge swap on 4x4 (not parity, but where there are 2 unpaired edges)?

2) What is the main difference between a ShengShou 4x4 v4 and a v5? (Structural)

3) The inner layers on my 4x4 turn awesomely but the outer layers catch a lot and lock up like crazy. How do I resolve this? Should I adjust the tensions?
