I've run into a problem where my F2L (like everyone else) is holding me back and i need better look-aheads. I consider myself a really good cuber as far as speed and understanding the cube, and I want to take my game to the next level. Right now i'm trying to average under sub-20 even though i only get a sub-20 every once in a while. Most of my times are about 24-25, but i find when i time myself i tense up a lot and when i can't find a pair i freak out and start crunching on the cube and being really inefficient. tonight i started doing metronome practice and timed myself for giggles. My F2L was still around 15s even though i was moving well under half speed and my times were around 25-27. I was amazed to see that my times were relatively the same even though i was totally relaxed vs. being totally in the zone and moving as fast as i can. Has anybody had this problem or know how to work with it? I can feel im really close to sub-20 but i know im working against myself here. any responses will be appreciated:) sorry for the not-well-thought out post

I average exactly the same!
From what I've heard you should keep practicing solving with the metronome and start solving F2L smoother meaning there are no pauses in between. Just practice solving slow and smooth and gradually increase speed. This helps a lot.

The best cheap sub 5$ cube to teach someone how to solve the cube?

QJ
ShengShou
Type A (GuoJia)
Type D (YongJun)
Type E (Diansheng)

Those are the one I was able to find... I want a "good" quality cheap cube to teach a friend of mine how to solve the cube (and of course, gift it to her)...

There are a few results of 11.37 in the WCA, most seem to be from 2007, so probably a different version, the other that I found is this (pyraminx):
2499 | Bastien Roussel | 17.64 | France | Phalsbourg Open 2012 | 11.37 16.60 19.67 24.57 16.64
Maybe gen3 or a +2? idk. It definitely seems to be a very rare time indeed.

Some of the timers used at that comp were gen3, yes.

i'm a lot slower than you but have observed the same thing. 15s is the target I'm working towards and I've been practising lookahead and metronome. When I can keep the rhythm and stay relaxed I can get 16-20s easily. When I lose the next pair and pause, it is difficult to make that time up without turning a LOT faster and that makes it more likely that I'll lose subsequent pairs as well. A pause on an early pair will often push my time out to 22s or more. So what everybody says about turning slow on F2L really is good advice.

Nice Fperm with bar on right? That's the only angle I need to AUF or rotate from.

(y') F r2 R' U2 r U' r' U2 (x' R2) U' R' U r2 D' (x)
(y') z R U R' U' R U2 (z' y') R U R' U' (z' y') R' U' R U (R2 x)

any easy Nb perm algorithms

R' U L' U2 R U' L R' U L' U2 R U' L = (z) D' R U' R2 D R' U D' R U' R2 D R' U
L' U R' U2 L U' R L' U R' U2 L U' R = (z) U' R D' R2 U R' D U' R D' R2 U R' D

R' U R' F R F' R U' R' F' U F R U R' U' R
R' U R U' R' F' U' F R U R' F R' F' R U' R

(y') F r2 R' U2 r U' r' U2 (x' R2) U' R' U r2 D' (x)
(y') z R U R' U' R U2 (z' y') R U R' U' (z' y') R' U' R U (R2 x)

R' U L' U2 R U' L R' U L' U2 R U' L = (z) D' R U' R2 D R' U D' R U' R2 D R' U
L' U R' U2 L U' R L' U R' U2 L U' R = (z) U' R D' R2 U R' D U' R D' R2 U R' D

R' U R' F R F' R U' R' F' U F R U R' U' R
R' U R U' R' F' U' F R U R' F R' F' R U' R

thanks brest!

Replacing Shengshou 4x4 core?

Hi guys

Can I replace my Shengshou 4x4 V4 core with another core (like a Dayan, Alpha V, C4Y, etc.) or should I just buy a new cube? One arm on my core is stripped, and the screw can be simply pulled out. The only SS 4 core I found on the cubicle site is not worth the price.
