shegshou pyraminx vs. QJ pyraminx

Hi new member here so please forgive me if i do this wrong.
I have a Qj pyraminx and was wondering if the new shengshou pyraminx was all that much better? Thanx

Ok, i have been really distracted by the fact that i do not use olls and plls or the last layer of the 3x3x3, i do mine by getting the yellow cross, then correcting the edges, then rotating the corners, then finishing them off, (or the beginner method)
I have tried learning the two look olls and plls, but everytime i try i do like 2 algorithms a day, and everytime i do such, the next day i cannot remember those and feel the urge to revert back to solving using the begginners LL, how should i go about learning the LL OLLS and PLLS? i already have a sheet of them printed off i am just having trouble learning them

Do PLLs first. Leave OLLs until after PLLs. Instead of two a day, do just one at a time. After you practice the algorithm by itself until it's relatively fast and memorized for that day, get LL scrambles from qqtimer or cstimer or other timer that will do that. Whenever you get the one you just learned, recall and apply the algorithm you just learned. Next day, see if you can remember the same one again. If not, repeat what you just did the day before. Eventually it should get into your head. When you have it down pat, then move on to another one, but remember to apply the first alg you used when practicing LL whenever the case comes up.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the other thing you should do it change your beginner's method while you're learning the new algs. Fridrich is orientation then permutation. It might help to think of LL in those steps instead of orient edges, permute edges, orient corners, permute corners. Learn the beginner's method of orient edges, orient corners, permute corners, permute edges. (I think that's the order... correct me if I'm wrong.)

I would rate the SS much better than the QJ. It turns much faster, and if you tension it right it can even do a fair amount of corner cutting (for a pyraminx :p). Being tension-able is a great advantage because you can change how it feels.

I dropped more than a second off my average since getting an SS :tu

Yeah, I know that. I saw some walkthroughs where people paired more than one edge at a time, but I still have to get comfortable with the more basic method lol. What is a good time to solve the cube in the beginning ?

However fast you think you should be. Looking at your 3x3 times in your signature and comparing you to friends I have that have basic knowledge of the 4x4, I'm assuming a time of 3:00 should be "standard." However, I don't know what type of cube you have, how much experience you've had with the 4x4 apart from the video tutorial, and I don't know how quickly you improve. This said, if you're much slower than 3:00, don't feel discouraged. Just try and set goals for yourself to get faster.

yeah, if you're doing a solve and an algorithm you've learned but cannot remember comes up, forget about the timer. Just sit there until you can either recall/figure out the algorithm. Just pick up on the patterns of moves within the alg, or try to break it up into smaller sub-algorithms (called triggers).

Hello. I was wondering if anybody could tell me a hobby shop that sells Traxxas 50wt or 30 wt in or near Troy, MI. as I tried a Google search but nothing "showed up." Thanks in advance!

speedcuber101, i bought my traxxas 50wt at larrys rc performence in sterling heights on hall road, it is only like 7.50$

I didn't say you didn't, but i would like to know what it is and how to stop it from coming. But thanks for the answer, it helped to eliminate other options.

i dont think you can really "prevent" cube dust from appearing. its created from plastic rubbing up against other plastic. you just have to clean the cube once and a while.

I have a rubiks 5x5, and sometimes when I do outer layer turns, the corners of the center start twisting and I have to undo the move and redo it to untwist these peices. Is there a way to stop that?

Yes, there is. Getting a new and a better 5x5 will fix that. :D For example, V-Cube 5 or Shengshou 5x5 are two that I could think of first.

Rubik's brand cubes are generally average or awful when compared to other cubes. I recommend you stop wasting your time with that cube and get yourself a good one.

The ShengShou is better and way cheaper then the V-cube 5x5

How often do you have to lubricate your cube? I bought a guhong and didn't lubricate it for about a year and now it just started feeling slow yesterday. So I searched up on the internet on how to lubricate a cube and while doing that, I stumbled upon videos saying you have to lubricate it every 50 solves That seems a bit too much to me. So do I have to lubricate every year, week, month, what are your thoughts?
Additional info: For a 3x3

I usually lube mine, then after a while when the lube starts to where out and the cube gets slow, wipe out the old lube and Relube the cube.
