It's the double T case. If you solve it using the T/Y alg, it's no surprise that you get DNFs. I'm using L2 U' L2 U2 y L2 U' L2 for this case ahd it works fine.

Hi, i'm new to cubing and this forum (just bought my first cube, a ghost hand 2x2, yesterday), and was following this guide for solving it, and it all worked out until the PLL where he goes to fast for me to follow (8:40). Could anyone give me some help?

It's not a very good alg for the case (switch opposite corners). Just learn the Y perm for that case and the J (b) perm or T perm for the other case where you switch adjacent corners.
EDIT:
Y perm: F R U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R F'
J (b) perm: R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U'
T perm: R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F'
Personally I use the Y perm and J (b) perm for PLL.
I do slow turning during f2l and i average 11-12
and it is really slow turning
almost all of my f2l cases are below 8 moves.
mostly 7. except for like RUR'U' x 3
I decided to use those cuz there is no need for 2gen 9 or 10 move long cases when you are doing slow turning since youre doing in a constant rate.
so i use some decent amount of cube rotations.
I was thinking do you guys move on to a fast turning style or 2gen f2l in a certain time??
someone who averages like 11-12 or around there
could you please tell me what your f2l style is.
do you do slow turning of fast turning?
cuz on youtube when i type "slow turning"
there's like sub20, barely sub15 vid. with slow turning.
and nothing faster except for Feliks 10.xx slow turning. ;;

I average 13-14 seconds, but I think you shouldn't really do "slow" turning, but rather "no pause" turning, which might be slow turning. Just try to have very close to pauses, and eventually, your turning will naturally come faster. 2 gen F2L isn't always the case, many fast cubers use L's. And some F2L tricks here and there might help. Hope I helped.

well yeah
thats what i exactly do.
using L 's and know all case when corner is on top and edge is in wrong slot. but with nice move counts
and I think i misstated that slow turning ; sorry about that.
but it is a slow turning but something like an optimal turning. which is pretty slow. but with no pause
also my tps is pretty good.
my last layer is like 3.5 excludeing recognition of OLL or AUF before.
I also tried fast turning with some pauses and got the same average.
So this is what i was exactly thinking.
'should i practice with fast or slow turning from now.'
cuz i'm fast enough now and i see alot of vids who do fast turning at like over 15 sec average.

Still I think you should really do more no pause turning, because it probably will help more in the long run. Eventually your no pause turning will become as fast as your fast with pause turning, probably even faster which will make you even faster because you have a. faster turning and b. no pauses. That was probably really redundant, but slow, optimal turning will probably help you more.
It will get your cube into the position to do an adjacent swap alg, like the J Perm.
EDIT: I have a question myself:
In Erik's video "4x4 official 38.96 of 5..." he says he can prevent oll parities during centers. I can't tell if this is true, but if it's not, does anyone know how?
Meph has a nice one that explains how f2l really works. He doesn't give you the optimal alg for each case, but he explains it in a way that should help you understand what is really going on.
What would You think about the following K4 modification:
1.: Solve six centers, like You'd normally do while solving with Reduction.
2.: Instead of pairing random edges, and putting them away, look for Cross edges, pair them and put them in the right place, so that after this step You'll have Cross and all of the centers done.
3.: Solve the first layer's corners, but in a way that'll also solve at least one edge. It'd be like normal F2L, but the edges could be split in half.
4.: Continue solving with regular K4.
If I'm not mistaken Dan does that. Blockbuilding is just not worth it during that phase, just to get corners solved. Rouxers may find it no problem but still.
Is there a standard convention for naming positions of cubbies on a 3x3: e.g., UFR vs. URF vs. FUR, etc. for a cubie in the front, upper, right face corner position? Are edges named different than corners?
