I Konsta and Florian modded my SSv4 4x4. My first mod. I think it went well (although re-assembly was a beast), especially the Konsta mod. Great inner layers now. But I can't get the outer layers right. If I tighten the tensions, it ends up with almost no corner cutting; if I loosed it, it gets uncontrollable and snags from mis-alignments. Can't do PLLs very well. In fact, I think my unmodded v4 cube corner cuts better.

My theory/questions: Maybe I didn't Florian mod enough? Here's a crappy phone pic showing the beveling.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I've done the Florian + Konsta on two SS 4x4 v4s now and find the cube to be much better modded than unmodded. Something I've noticed, after modding, the cube does need to go through a breaking in period before it starts turning well. Usually, I have to adjust tensions a couple times, and I will even take it apart, wipe it down, and re-lube the whole cube after a few days of solves.

Additionally, for the Florian mod, I rounded out the pieces more than you did. I hesitate to encourage you to just start grinding away, because results may vary, and what I like is probably not what everyone likes. My modded cubes will corner cut slightly more than out of the box, and reverse corner cut much better than the unmodded cube. I also get far, far fewer lockups on the outer layers. I followed Cyoubx's tutorial pretty closely. Crazybadcuber's Florian modded 5x5 is an example of the Florian mod gone too far, in my opinion, so I would avoid going that far.

Maybe it just needs to break in further. I followed Cyoubx' tutorial, also -- and maybe too much so in his warning against over-modding. If breaking in doesn't make a big difference, I think I'll bevel the piece corners a bit more (but not like those gaping CBC ones!).

Thanks.

M U (R U R' U') (R' F R F') M'

i was looking for a better alg when it suddenly occurred to me that for all this time i was only doing the finger trick wrong.
either that or this alg is complete crap, which i believe it is not.

my original bad finger trick:
M with left index finger BD to UF
regrip right hand for sexy move
regrip left hand for sledgehammer's F' (kind of like xR'URU')
M' with left ring finger, or turn R and L sides instead.

cons of this are regripping and impossible PLL lookahead.

what i now think it should be like:
M with left index finger from BD to UF
and do the "thumb on top U-turn" in the sexy move to prevent regrips
then F' with thumb
and M' with left ring finger?

it still feels wrong.
maybe do R'r at the end instead of M'?
maybe start the alg with r'R?

im starting to lock up at the end using my ring finger, and the grip in the beginning is bothering me too.

how should i be doing this alg?

Why are my cube cores acting like 'hair generators'? I put them no where near hair and hair still comes out of it.

It happens to me too. I think my one hair fell into the cube when I open it or when I am cubing. Solution where a hair cap. :)

Question:
How can I stop or minimise pausing during cubing?

I tend to pause a lot to think where each piece goes where.

Da Yan2-GuHong Replacement Part Help

Hello,

I just received a Da Yan2-GuHong DIY kit off of Amazon. I put it together but one of the 2-sided pieces does not match the other ones and the sides stick out making the cube bulge in the middle. Does anyone know where I might be able to order just 1 of these pieces so I don't have to go thru the process of dissasymbing and returning and waiting on it to come back?

Thanks in advance!

During f2l solves, most sub 20 and below people seem like they´re constantly doing the R U R´ U´ trigger, is that correct?

no, they do the same thing as anyone else above 20s, just more efficiently. for example, R U' R' U R U R' is a common one. mirrored from the back is R' U R U' R' U' R. both can appear like sexy moves if you dont know what case theyre doing. and when a y/y' rotation is required, usually theyd do the one that allows the case to be inserted using RU moves.

My SS 6x6's tensions keep loosening, and it's pretty f***ing annoying to say the least, because the perfect tension is so difficult to achieve. Any way to prevent it from happening? I lubed the core when I changed the springs.
