It does not "improve" times. It is essentially the same thing - only the starting and stopping of the timer is different.
Stackmat timers are used in competition however, and they might take some getting used to, so it would be good to at least try it out beforehand.
Computer timers (using keyboard) are convenient for practice at home, and times should not vary too much between using them and stackmat timers.

does practicing speed solving with a stack mat and timer help improve over all times, compared to just using a computer keyboard or other methods.

Short answer: No.

Long(er) answer: Practicing with Stackmat is very similar to practicing with a computer. The only difference would be the grip of the cube that you might have; for a Stackmat timer, it is impractical to have the cube in your hand when you start the timer. Because of this, some people might be a bit faster with computers, because of the time that it takes for them to transition from the keyboard to the cube. However, if you average higher than 3 seconds, this shouldn't be a huge deal.

SS 7x7 bad screw problem

So i just opened my 7x7 to lube the core. On one side i noticed that the screw head(the place where the screwdriver fits) did not have sharp markings, so there seems to be potentially no way I can unscrew it (It is also very tight, and no way i can lube it or any other point relating to it without unscrewing it first. It is making very bad creaking noise and will surely hamper performance of the cube. Any suggestions what should i do about it? Or is getting a new core + screw spring set the only way? If yes, then please let know where can i get the same from?

Thanks

What do you mean by no sharp markings? If you mean the screw is almost stripped, use the closest screwdriver size you have. Press as hard as possible to unscrew. If that doesn't work drip shock oil in it first. Then get some new screws for it..

How to get quicker? (30 second average)

I want to get quicker, but I am not really sure how to improve on my times. My pb is 23.45 and my average is just under 33 seconds. I use Fridrich f2l, I know full pll and 2-look oll. Apart from learning full oll which I will do soon, how can I improve my pb and average?

I just got my first DIY ( dayan zhanchi 42mm) any one got a video of what pieces slot into others to get the colours to opposite properly. Tips will do as well. Ty in advance.

Edit: This is a stickerless one.

Improve your look ahead. And on top of intuitive f2l you could probably learn some f2l algorithms for cases that take longer than normal. Work on planning your whole cross during inspection. And once you're good at that then you can experiment with planning cross and your first f2l pair. You could also work on your pll's and trying getting those below 3 seconds and make them flow. And if you're having trouble executing your pll's then you could always check the speedsolving wiki for a different algorithm. And obviously you need to practice and practice efficiently. And that's about all i can say.

And to be honest it depends on your method that you use, and i might get shot down for this but I believe that 100%. If you aren't comfortable with your current method or it doesn't feel right then you feel comfortable solving and won't be able to learn and practice efficiently. So experiment with different methods before making your choice. I myself can say that after a year of fridrich and being sub 20 and after switching to roux just 3 weeks ago, I already prefer roux and have switched over to it. So think of this too ^^^
