I'm about a 55 second avg, for context. How the heck do I get my F rotations smoother? Right now, I regrip my right hand counter-clockwise, then use my right index finger to turn the F face clockwise and my thumb to turn F'. It's by far sloppier than all my other turns.
there are a whole bunch of ways to do F turns.
if you're talking about F turns during F2L, i recommend just rotating and doing L/R turns instead. if an F2L alg is <F,R,U> and like a whole jumble of it, then either change the alg or practice it.
during OLL/PLL, how you do F just depends on where your fingers are when you get there.
I do F/F' turns a variety of different ways. since i'm left-hand dominant but not full lefty, i do:
F'
- flick F with left index finger; other fingers on U and thumb on D
- flick F with left index finger; other fingers on B and thumb touching F
- right thumb (only for one OLLCP alg)
F
- left thumb push F
- right index finger flick; other fingers on U, thumb on D
- right index finger flick; other fingers on B, thumb touching F (rarely, only in my Y and R perms)
in case you're wondering about the one where i flick F while my thumb is still on F, it's a type of flick you have to learn. iirc thewestonian does it a lot, even in sexy moves. normally it's used for U flicks where your hand is out of position, like in U perms.
it'd be useful to know where you have trouble with F turns, whether it's just F in general or during certain algs.
