How do you perform the eg-1 alg "F R' F U' F2 R U R" ??

I always HATE getting this case because I dont know how to perform it! I mean, a good time for that would be like 1.80 O.o

(For people without cube or whatever, it is the pi case with the two bars on top)

Just got my dayan + mf8 4x4 yesterday and I've been breaking it in, lubing it... the outer layer turns really well but the inner layers are still stiff :( How do I tension it? Do I have to take the cube apart and tension the center screws, or do I just tension it with the outer edge screws on the ball core?

Are you sure your friend wants Waterman?
Waterman is not quite little-to-no algorithms :)

I've read on the forums you don't need all those 100+ algorithms to learn to solve, and that doing that is comparable to solving pure algorithmic F2L in CFOP (believe it was posted by somerandomkidmike). Also - I said initially. I understand if he has to learn some algorithms in the future if he wants to become fast (i.e. He'll probably start with 2LCxLL). Just a nub-friendly tutorial is all I'm asking for, especially if it's also a video tutorial.
PS: He currently uses CFOP with 4LLL but has also wandered a bit into Petrus.

If I counted correctly, that was 60 moves, so at 5 TPS you would be at 12 seconds with that solve. At 60 moves and 27 seconds, you were at about 2 TPS. Your movecount is average for cfop, but the cross took nine moves. So I would suggest working on optimizing your cross. I know Prisma Puzzle Timer has a feature that shows you all the optimal crosses for that scramble, so you could use that. Also at 2 TPS, you could work getting that up. But try to turn as fast as you can WITHOUT compromising look-ahead.

Good luck,
Aaron. :)

No I checked over the video and it was about 4.78 TPS.
And the F2L was like 11 or 12 seconds.
I just have lots of pauses and terrible PLL and PLL recog.

How can you tell what your TPS is from watching the video?
You obviously don't have 5 TPS if your movecount was 60 moves and the solve was 27 seconds...And the fact that your LL takes longer than your F2L is really bad.

I counted all the turns per second in the slow mo video I took.
My LL DOES take longer than my F2L most of the time.
And BTW I use 2 look OLL.

2 look OLL shouldn't slow you down. If it takes you more than a second to do f R U R' U' f' or F R U R' U' F', then something is wrong.

Hopefully I'll be able to look at this more indepth, and a better cross was already posted, but you may want to switch that OLL, you really don't need so many rotations and left/right hand switches.

x U R' U' L U R U' L' x' //OLL

I'd use F' (r U R' U') r' F R
one quick regrip after the bits in brackets (which is just a sexy move starting on a wide turn).

Also as people have hinted, but without saying explicitly, your TPS for your solve is your average turn speed (so turns / solve time). You're saying what your burst speed is, if so it's too fast. Do your F2L slower and you'll find the look ahead better and have more thinking time to optimise your solutions.

Ok, F2L 1 seemed fine, but ideally it could have been left until later cause it's not a nice case.
F2L you did "R' U R U' R U2 R' U2 F' L F L' ", I would have done (U' R' U R) y L U' L' a wee rotation in there, but still 7 QTM shorter.
Rest of the F2L seemed fine.
So yeah, I'd just concentrate on optimising your cross, and making your F2L smoother.

Okay, thanks to guys who answered my question. I will work on EO and EPLL and F2L. I'm not used to RU fast fingertricks.
Also I'm thinking of using waterman instead. Yay for waterman.
