I would not consider myself "pretty good" on 7x7. I definitely agree with your second sentence though.

Yeah, sub-10 is pretty easy with any knowledge of big cubes. I got 7x7 before 6x6 so it's totally new to me and I came with no prior experience other than 5x5 and 4x4. Sub-10 is definitely not something I'd brag about to any other big cuber. The cut time for US Nats is 6:30 so if you can hit that I'd say you're pretty good since the other cut times are sorta fast. I just got my 4x4 times to around 1:30 and I've had it awhile. If I want to compete in 2-7 like I originally planned it'll take a lot more work. And I need to take interest in 2x2. It just seems so obnoxiously boring to me. It doesn't help I stripped the core of my LanLan either.

To be honest, I don't know... I'm really slow on 2x2, but someone told me that 'Rowan can sub-4 Ortega'. but since Rowan is scary fast I took that to mean that it was 'possible but difficult'. Also there is no way of quantifying how much practice you need.
Rowan can sub 3 ortega.
should i use ortega or some other 2x2 method? I use fridrich and want to get better :P
Honestly i would reccomend guimond, it's not too many algs, and it can be done sub-3.

Yeah for 7x7 I want to get some sub 6:30 averages, but the centers take me around 3-4 minutes. I average sub 7, does anyone have tips for centers and last 4 edges?

You're about five minutes faster than me so I'm not sure what you do already since I'm doing pretty basic things for last 4 edges and last 2 centers. For edges I just solve the first eight that standard way breaking the centers into lines. Then for the last four I solve the two inner edges right next to the midge and solve parity if I have it. Then I solve the outer edges and solve parity if I have it. It's not the most efficient when it comes to dealing with parity but I think the alg I use won't solve inner edge parity if everything else is solved. Haven't really experimented with single slices of the 3rd innermost layer though. That could work.

For Centers I solve almost always with 1x5 lines unless I see a 2x2 or 2x3 block in which case I'll build that real quick and insert it. Last two centers I get as many solved as I can and then use the commutator. I usually end up using the comm 7-10 times. On a good solve it will only be 4-ish. I really need to work on doing lines though. You can always get it to where you only need to use the commutator once to solve the last two centers apparently.

My first two centers take me about 2:30 right now and total for centers is around 6 minutes-ish. It all depends on when I get to the last two. It takes me at least a minute to finish up the last two centers once I start using the commutator. My 3x3 phase is about 1:00-1:15 assuming I don't make a mistake.

That's pretty bad lol any advice?

I know this is almost a double post but it's two very unrelated questions. I'm still looking for advice on 7x7 but also, tonight I'm going to finish the dot case OLLs. I've got three left so doing it tonight should be easy. What subset should I learn next? I was thinking the P cases. I'm also looking for a good alg for OLL 19. The ones on the wiki aren't that great.

If you don't like the wiki algs please go to the alg database, which I spent a lot of time working on to make better. Before I started contributing , there were only 22 cases covered, but now all of them are covered and have many algs for each case.

Yea I edited my post cause I checked the wiki real quick. Right now I'm cruising through BOCA. That's a good resource though and I'll be sure to look through it. Any chance you could change the numbering system to match the wikis? Yours awkwardly starts and 21 and ends at 77.

I copied all the algs from BOCA into the alg database, you know:)
btw I can't change anything because there are algorithm inside the database that controls everything, you can ask cride5 about it though.
i also found three duplicate pictures (not algs) and cride5 said there was no easy fix because of how the database is set up

sorta off:There are also three duplicate pictures (21,40) (22,37) (27,60) which I asked Cride5 about but he said it was hard to change them because of those darn algorithms that control the database.

on: Did you find a suitable alg yet?

If you PM me an image of each case I'll tell you what alg I use. I promise that mine are all pretty fast. Theres actually only one dot OLL case that I don't particularly enjoy getting. Even so its not like its even bad. I promise I use good algs :)

I tried to copy and past images from the wiki into the response box when I first asked the question but it didn't work. I do have them all saved to Microsoft Word with the images to the left of them. I'll see if I can somehow get them into a PM.

Some of my algs are from BOCA because one ones on the wiki were pretty bad for me.

Edit: I'll link the OLLs page and then put the alg I use underneath
