Where can I buy the x-cube 4 besides lightake?

here, its preorder tho. But you have the option of assembly, lube, and sticker.

Ra: y2 z U R2 U' R2 U F' U' R' U R U F U2 R
I really need some fingertrick help on this alg's execution since when I do it, it seem so awkward to me and this perm done with L U and F isn't that fast on me.

Try (R U2 R' U2) (R B' R' U' R) (U R B R2 U')
Sub2able with practice. It's pretty much the same alg, just done differently.

Can anyone tell me some actual benefits of the "Yau" method for 4x4x4, as opposed to standard reduction? All I ever hear is that it causes magic good stuff to happen.

I used to use yau, but my times increase significantly when I switched to reduction. But the benifits are, the cross is already done once 3x3 solving starts, and once the centers are complete, all edges are in the middle and top layers, so better look ahead, and with practice most of the edges can be done in one go, 6 edge pairing.

Yellow top blue front. do this to set up the case i need help with

R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2 y2 U' M U2 M' U' M' U2 M U2

Going from waffos roux tutorial.. http://wafflelikescubes.webs.com/rouxmethod.htm#591530993

step 4b is what I am having trouble with. What do I need to do to solve step 4b from this? I am sort of confused on what to do on this step. Its the only thing holding me back

In your case you have to do M U2 M U' M2 U' to complete this step.

You have to permute the UL and UR edges, the rules for this step are that you can't do M/M' moves unless you do a U2 between them.

After this step your R and L layers should be solved

What 4x4 preforms most like an A-V? Basically trying to decide between MF8 + DaYan, Meffert's, and X-Cube.
ShengShou. It' cheaper than all three of the cubes you mentioned. You can buy it at Speedcubeshop.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC22ZxaPGT0&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL where can i buy a 3x3x5 that shape shifts like this (and a 3x3x4)
It was specially made. You can make one however, by finding a tutorial. A 3x3x4 has been mass produced. You can buy one at Speedcubeshop.
What does POM stand for here?
Pretty Ossim Matieral
Are there any algs for the last edge pair on 4x4 besides (Dd)' F U F' L F' L' F (Dd) ?
I hate that alg.
Dd R F' U R' F Dd'
What's an easy alg (or two) to match up the last 2 tredges on a 5x5? I don't care for speed.

Hold the cube so that the trdges are on the top layer on opposite sides, Front and Back. Do Lw' U2 Lw' U2 F2 Lw' F2 Rw U2 Rw' U2 Lw2 to swap the right edge of the tredge from the one on the other side.
Depending on the 4x4x4 algorithm you use, you can apply it to the 5x5.

Thats basically all intuitive right?

Also, when I am done that which one is it for step c? I got it myself but I didn't see my case up there. Maybe I'm being dumb. Its 3am..

The case you get after doing that is the "worse than fuu" you can tell its an "fuu" case because there will be an edge and 2 centres joined to form a block. If you need more info look under the algs on waffles page He talks about both "fuu" cases.

How do you quickly do M' turns? Doing r' R or R r' is ineffective.

I'm not sure of the difference between M' or M. But if you mean moving the M-slice towards you, you can push the BD piece from the bottom of your cube with your middle finger.

What would be considered a good 5x5 time?

Sub-1:10 or so.

It's the same for the first 2 centers. Then you pair 3 edges rather easily because you have few restrictions. Then you build more centers slightly more inefficiently because you have to deal with those 3 cross edges. Then you finish the last cross edge. Doesn't seem that great at this point, does it? Well, then you have L8E, which is ridiculously fast, and afterwards you don't have to waste time doing a slow cross, you just look for an F2L pair as you are finishing L8E and you have a much faster 3x3 solve.

1. Is there any particular reason for the inner layers being HORRIBLE? My outer layers are absolutely amazing but there's WAY too much resistance and clickyness on the inners. I can't even do the PLL parity alg! I assembled everything right. I compressed the springs, paid attention to the longer / shorter ends on the core stub things and lubed it with Cyclo. However, I can't get my inner layers to get smoother even with about 3 to 4 hours of constant turning. Any way to fix this?

2. What'd you say to a 4x4 avg of 2:00?

3. And an average of 9:00 for a 5x5?

4. How do I make the mini YJ 5x5 better? I pops nd is loose. If I tighten it, it locks.

If you consider sub 10 avg good for 3x3x3 then 13 people have achieved that on the WCA database.
On that basis 80secs is a 5x5x5 approximation.

@theace it would help if you mention what cube you're talking about. I have assumed X-cube and there are lots of topics on this at the moment.
I'd guess that you haven't assembled it properly, haven't lubed it sufficiently or you need to continue to break it in.

yeah, it's the x cube. I've assembled it according to the video and used quite a lot of lube. I'll continue to break it in. Lets see how things go after tomorrow. However, the outers have started locking now. I've been spamming t and y perms and it's become quite locky now.

1)I assume it's X Cube. Break it in.
2)Practice more.
3)Seriously more practice.
4)YJ makes mini 5x5s?

No. Bad phoenix. Bad. Don't give out bad habits :(

Assuming you want to know how to do an M move and not M'... just put your left ring finger on like the in between space in BD sticker and the BD center piece and sort of push up. If you want then I can make a video explaning. At first it WILL feel awkward but it is so fast to do it this way, Stachu taught me this way and it is the best in my opinion.

1. Breaking it in. The inner layers are making my fingers hurt D:
2. After it's broken in yes. I can't get myself to even look at my Lanlan.
3. I got the cube yesterday. I'm having quite a lot of trouble with the Last 2 centers and last 2 edges.
4. GAH!

he is probably talking about the crappy 1st gen one based on eastsheen mech, that thing is pretty damn small.
D:

Which one would you recommend? (If you're about to say "V Cube 5", where's the cheapest place to get one?)

EDIT: my question: Is it worth it to learn R2 for BLD corners, or should I just stick with M2/Old Pochmann until I feel like learning BH?

Okay. That is your personal preference. I ust posted mine. Everyone has different ones. Like Phillip E doing cross on left.

You have to do a regrip with your fingertrick for it. With mine you do not. If you actually had tried my way out you would see its clearly easier then regripping and doing it that way. I would know. I used to do it your way.

Edit: regrip isn't the right word. But you can't flow the rest of the solve when you have to re-adjust your finger like that. This reminds me of not doing Japanese style turning on OH. You can't flow right. Sure its semi fast. But you gotta plan ahead for the rest of the moves
