Im not the person to ask. Ive felt 1 other 4x4 in my life, and that wasnt even mine. Mini qj, and its pretty hard to be worse cube then that. So while the xcube is the best I personally have felt, it doesnt feel great. Although what I have is not the best it can be. Inner slices on this are bad, I might have done something wrong

what does sanding a cube mean? Why is it done?

Basically rounding the inside corner edges of each cubie. ;) It helps to stop the cube locking up if you make a misaligned turn. If the corners were perfectly square, and your cube isn't so loose that it is falling apart, you have to make very straight turns or else the corners impede each other, causing a lock. If the corners have a bit of roundness, they can kind of push around each other, allowing you to get away with misaligned turns, a.k.a corner cutting.

I don't recommend trying it though if you never did it before, you can buy ones that are pre-rounded, and see how it works.

Edit: also, there is sanding to remove imperfections, like bumps. Forgot about that part, but it's fairly obvious. :)

I've heard of 2 types of 2 look LL methods. OLL-PLL and CLL-ELL. Are there any other methods that split up the last layer into 2 separate problems in different ways? I was thinking of the possibility of solving 2 opposite sides in 2 L-shape sections. Both sections are the same but the first would have different algs since it can be more efficient. Recognition should be fast since you can see all the stickers of the side you want to solve without turning the cube. So do any other 2 look methods exist? Has anyone investigated methods such as this for efficiency, number of algs, etc?

This has been asked before, and its COLL-ELL.

This could be considered 2L IMO.
Then there are a few others like MGLS and seth, that are made for the last layer, along with ZBLL,
Tha'ts all I can think of. I'm sure there are more.

And the L shape idea of yours isn't that great, during OLL you can see most of the stickers, and once your advanced enough you only need to see 2 sides to recog the case, same with PLL. Only 2 sides are need. But your method for solving the left L shape and right L shape, are found here somewhere. But the first L algs will need to be regenerated in order to optimize them since you don't worry about the second L.

If you did't know, ZBLL is a 1 look last layer method, unless you have to do EO, but if you do ZB, its a 1LLL. There is also L2L4 which could be considered a zero look LL. lol

how can i improve my maru 4x4 , cause it`s locked a lot , pop sometimes , and the center run away every time i almost finish the cube

How long have you had it? Because they do that a lot the older they get :/ unfortunately

Whats the fewest possible number of parity algs that I have to learn for the 5x5? I don't care if I have to repeat them multiple times, I just want to make sure that I can solve it everytime without having to learn a different alg for every case.

1. Theres a way to deal with the other type of "parity" without any algs, other than R U R' U'

Odd layered cubes can have no parity. I think you are talking about last two edges algs.

I originally thought they were parity as well, until it happened on my gigaminx and I asked how to solve the parity, and people told me it wasn't a parity.

Can you be more specific?

Assuming you are talking about last two edges, then 3 is all you need, and 2 of them are 4x4 algs. I use three. and never have to apply them more than once, since I edge pair a certain way, to make sure only 3 cases can appear.
I use the single match/flip - 4x4(Last two edges)
The single edge flip - 4x4 (OLL parity)
and the edge flip/swap - 5x5
found on this site

I may use different algs than those ones tho.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I was talking about the last 2 edges.

How do you do your M M' and F' turns?

It depends on the algorithm.
For F' sometimes I use my right thumb pushing on the DFR corner, sometimes I use my right index.
It depends on the position your hand is in and what you are more comfortable with.

M and M' some people use a finger and push on the DB edge or pull on the DF edge.
Personally, I do double layer and single layer turns. ex. M=Rw' R

What size stickers should I buy for a DaYan GuHong? And what about a LingYun?

http://www.cubesmith.com/3x3x3SmallSize.htm

I made the mistake of buying regular ones and they didn't fit well. So I got these.
I havn't put them on yet because I trimmed the other ones down, but they look like they will fit a lot better.
