here is the thing
just finally got a sub 1:30 solve on my 4x4
It is a dayan, so of course it had to pop. but it popped on the very last turn and i had already stopped the timer
It is completely solved but the one edge that popped out.
So in a comp is it +2 or DNF or considered solved?

Also I really hope it counts because this is my first sub 1:30 and i got really lucky.

It's a DNF in comp, but it won't be the end of the world if you count it as a PB.

When should I mod my AV? When i just got it or should I break in first, or break in and lube first, or just new, lube and mod?
Thanks got this answer ^.
Do I have to work in maru lube?

any fast cubers who use 2side recog?

edit-^oprah you can mod whenever, most people do it when they first get it

id mod then lube because if you are doing the haiyan memory mod then the knife/sandpaper (whichever you do) will remove hte lube

What's the simplest algorithm to solve the first one into the second one?

just learn the alg to get it to square

ps
take off the v so its in the bottom layer, then switch the v so it attaches the 4 edges so that 2 some down. then do a -4? so when you bring up the 2 pair again you bring down a line instead of a v. then just attach the line to the other 6.

pps
auf so that 2 corners and 2 edges on the right and one edge is beside the slash.
2,-2 / 3,-2 / 0,2 /
should do it

If 2 side recog is what I think it is, then I do it. and I learned by grouping the PLLs into categories.

Like all the Gs and the As have a 1x2 bar on one side, and E and the 2 Js have a 1x3 bar on one side.

I believe he is talking about recognising a pll from only seeing 2 sides (any 2 sides) which requires really good relative colour recognition (imagine trying to identify a g perm if the you couldn't see the headlights or 2 block). I'd also love to know who can consistently do this. I presumed all the top guys could, but if they can't that will make me worry less about learning it :)

there are tricks for that (to identify gperm if theres no hints (no blocks/headlights = Ra, Rb, F, Ga, Gc (one of those)

i know some top cubers can do it (though they dont do it for every case i believe)
rowan for example i heard can do it

another question, what do you guys think about R-OLL? worth learning? seems it would be useful in predicting PLL

And yes, 2 sides. I can easily recognize all 21 perms. That plus AUF to get the PLL in the right position takes me about one second. Im not that fast. The only one I'm horrible at is E, sometimes i do it wrong and have to do an H perm. but otherwise I am pretty good with PLL.

Now OLL is extremely difficult. Too many mirrors, I always get the algs mixed up. And I forget most of the rare ones since they do not show up often enough.

Texas has competitions all the time.

Nope. The last one was a Small Cubes Comp way down south on the border.
Before that it was April, and that was Oklahoma. The last big one was Fall of last year.
There were 3 big ones in 2009, but none in 2010.
