I imagine that ZB has enormous potential, and taking away the task of memorizing all 492 algos or whatever, the recognition time would seem to take a lot more practice. Unless the recognition time is extremely quick, I don't see how it could beat a person who completes the OLL as you recognize it and then completes the PLL as you apply it. I might see this method be used more in the future, when cubing may become more competitive and people spend more time on it. This would require people to continue learning hundreds of more algos after learning full Fridrich, and then I could imagine someone learning more algos beyond ZB.
I'm only a beginner though, so I don't know much about the potential of reducing the recognition time. It seems really interesting though, and I'd love to try it 2-3 years from now if I'm still interested in cubing and if I learned the full Fridrich. Ten years from now, I just don't see the Fridrich method remaining dominant.
Maybe not as much as it is now, but I still think the majority will use it.
There are people who are convinced that roux will become the dominant method. These people are deluded. There will always be a divide, and there are those people who don't like M moves, favouring CFOP for the majority, or new method X.
weston did this on his haiyan cube and it made the cube look like it was smaller than it actually was, i would advice that you spend the extra $2 and just get both and maybe try a combination of the two
Is there a set of algs(name?) that permutes and orients the LL edges without messing up the corners? Or is it impractical? How would I create these algs myself?

I said "method" not method. Technicly, it is a method, but really it isn't, because there are so many ways to solve each step. When doing F2L after EO line, for example, you could use a Fridrich aproach, more of a roux or petrus approuch, etc.
im not a noob, i have short term memory loss
edit: ZZ can be similar to fridrich. the only really defined step is the EO line, from then, there isn't too much method
If you do ZZ F2L like Fridrich, then you're not doing ZZ F2L. If you do it like Petrus, then you're not doing ZZ F2L. The 'ZZ method' also has its own unique LL method. It's called ZZLL.
