ok. but if I were to try it, what would a dayan with shengshou springs feel like?

Probably pretty bad. If the SS springs are too stiff for a 6x6, then it's going to be bad on a 3x3. The Fangcun comes with stiffer springs, and swapping them out is necessary if you want a really good cube. But go ahead and try it out if you want.

ok thanks. ill try it. btw, unrelated, but I remember you from Caltech spring. I was the one who one 4x4 and pyraminx :)

So, can I swap them with like a Guhong and put the Shengshou springs back into my dayan?

not sure if it applies to all 6x6s but I took the springs out of three ballpoint pins, snipped them in half, lubed them and put them in my YJ. Made a huge difference. The only problem I have now is the middle layer misaligns. And having tried the pin mod three times. I gave up. Just make sure you put the snipped part facing the screw head or it will eat the plastic.

But just in case, I believe these are the springs you need.

Question

After finally learning to solve a 2x2 blindfolded. I realized the fatal mistake that it does not transfer to 3x3 corners because it moves edges around. I believe I use pochman, I use setup moves to place the two pieces in the UBR and UFR slots and do J perm to switch them.

So for 3x3, I am assuming I would do something similar in placing the corners while leaving the UR and UL edges completely alone and do a T-Perm. Is this correct?

and out of curiosity, does anyone know the difference between a YJ and a SS 5x5? I'm not sure if I need a SS if their mechs are the same. Would konsta and florian mods work the same?

An alg is 2-gen if it is entirely made up of R and U moves. And three gen algs are made up of R, L and U moves.

technically yes. however 2-gen moves only move 2 faces, not always U and R, F and D are also 2 gen. Same with 3 gen. F U and R are 3-gen.

The Fangcun is exactly the same as the zhanchi, only different plastic. If the Fangcun springs are too stiff, I'm sure they'll also be too stiff in the zhanchi.

So now there are knock offs of knock offs? lol

What? Explain.

I know that but he mentioned a KO of a KO. Fangcun is a KO. Zhanchi isn't.

First, I don't buy into Vcubes argument that Dayan cubes are knockoffs. Not at all. But the Fangcun is literally an exact copy of the Zhanchi.

Technically all 3x3 are knock offs of rubik's original design despite huge differences. At least that's my opinion. Right now most 4x4 and up are V-cube knock offs despite minor differences. They all took V-Cubes design and made slight changes to call it their own. And it makes me laugh that rubik's and V-cube refuse to change their design at all when slight modifications obviously make them soo much better. The biggest thing they could do, and simplest, is adjustable cores with screws and springs. Yes for 25+ years rubik's has released the same puzzle and been left behind compared to other manufactures and rely on their department store sales to keep them in business.

If Walmart could buy a large enough quantity of (insert intermediate speed cube here) and sell them in there stores for cheaper than rubik's. Who knows what would happen? some people would go for brand name, other would go for price, until people discover that cheaper one is better.

A Knock Off puzzle is a puzzle that is a clone of another one. Example the YJ 7x7 is a Knock Off of the V-cube 7x7 they both have the same looks and same mechs.

I'm really bad at M-slices. Like really bad. Sub 20 is no biggie for me and hasnt been for a while but I still do M slices often with Rr' turns for example. H perm should be one of the fastest algs yet for me it is one of the slower ones, the only one slower is the Z-perm and E-perm. Somehow doing them feels really awkward. Is this common to everyone in the beginning? Would practising Roux help with this? And can practising Roux "hurt" my Fridrich lookahead etc or does it actually help it?

Don't need to practice Roux for M slices unless you want to practice Roux. Just practice M slices. For H-perm and Z-perm you don't need M only M' (I use the algs that don't have M). There is also a 2-gen alg for Z-perm.

So... Every nxnxn cube is a knockoff because it takes its inspiration from the original Rubik's Cube.

Every democratic system is a knockoff of America because it may or may not take inspiration from the "original" democracy.
