Someone once posted a guide-like thing somewhere on this forum, and I can't find it. It showed how to recognize if a cross is being put together correctly in the D layer. It was an image, so I can't search for the words that it used. (I did try searching anyway.)

The image displayed 3x3x3s, with only the edges in the D layer and centers colored (if I remember correctly). Each case had a text description with it such as " D' " or "Obvious."

Does anyone know where this post is? If so, please give a link to it (or re-post the image). Thank you.

Bump.

I was one of the oldest 3x3 blindfold solvers. I am going on 59 years old, but I have less reason to attend now that they removed the category for "oldest blindfold solvers".

Apparently the main concern was with the "youngest" statistics, because there was a race not between the competitors themselves, but between their parents to get to the top at all costs.

But IMHO they should have kept the "oldest" stats, which have never caused any problem. I'm 42, a bit too young to enter these stats, but I enjoyed the "Age vs speed" charts, which are gone too.

I recently bought a 4x4 and still don't know how to solve it. I have heard people say that Yau is better than redux so can i directly learn yau or should i learn redux first and then move on to yau. Also can u suggest some good tutorials.

I would start with redux first til you get the hang of it

Those are what I used to learn, and I still use that. I average around 1:30.

Once you get the hang of that look into yau and 3-2-2-2-3.
I would suggest 3-2-2-2-3 over yau tho. Requires less thinking so you can go faster. Youtube has tutorials

Breaking in a Dayan Zhanchi

Hi,
I just ordered a Zhanchi and I recieved it today. I was wondering if I should just lube it, or break it in as well. Shoud I, and how should I break in my Zhanchi?

So, I bought a Shengshou 4x4 from Amazon, and it needs to be lubricated. :/ Thing is, I tried to take it apart and put it back together before the lubricant stuff got here, but I can't pop out the two middle pieces. I'm afraid if I try too hard it will break, so I would like some tips on how to safely disassemble it. Also, I don't know what version it is. I heard that some versions will break if you do it incorrectly...

How do I look ahead to f2l when doing a cross?

I'm not very good at it yet, but you're supposed to solve the cross on the bottom face, while not even looking at it or watching the moves you make. I can't do it perfectly but that's what I heard from some other cubers, because then it saves you a cube rotation, and it lets you find stuff faster right after you solve the cross. (: Hope this helps!

Middle pieces? do you mean Internal pieces or center pieces?

What middle pieces are you talking about?
