does anyone know where I can buy syringes for lube, besides the cubicle? (it's really expensive there :P) They would have to have caps/tips on them, since I don't have any.

Dispensing Syringes 3cc / 3ml pack of 10 with tip caps

Dispensing Needle, Plastic Tapered Green 18 ga 0.035id x 1.25" Tip, 50 pcs

Both from amazon but you end up with a lot of extras but both are cheap(Under $10.00)

Is this the correct guhong?

I was looking to get a white Guhong V2 (That's the one that has torpedoes, right?) from amazon. I found this one, and I'm pretty sure that's the correct one, but if someone could confirm it for me, that would be great.

Thanks so much. I've got a couple more questions, though. Regarding the Guhong V2 from Amazon, do you know which merchant I should buy it from? Does it even matter which one I pick? Also, I've heard good things about Traxxas 50k lube, but is there a possibility that it could damage the plastic at all?

No it doesn't really matter, I just usually go with the cheapest one, haha. And yes, traxxas is quite nice. No, it doesn't damage your plastic.

ok, so this is for 3x3 cubes. I will buy One very soon, so I need an answer ASAP answer please. I have picked 2 out and they are he Dayan guhong v2 or the DaYan zhanchi 5? Both of them are full 6 color stickerless. I have heard that the Zhanchi 5 is not as smooth as the guhong so that is what is holding me up? somebody please help. I am not new to speed cubes, I know how to take them apart, lube and clean, Put back together and adjust all screws as I see fit? I do need help on deciding on these 2 here though, I hope I get some help fast. please PM me your answer or put it on here if you wish.

The Zhanchi is not as smooth as the Guhong, but it is clicky and a bit noisy. It does not affect the speed of the cube, infact, the Zhanchi is faster than the Guhong.

In case your not aware, stickerless cubes can't be used in WCA competitions. I find that stickerless cubes often wear out quicker than regular colored ones too because of the plastic quality (there is alot of dye stickerless cubes plastic). I have a White zanchi and a stickerless Guhong v1. My Zanchi feels pretty smooth, but My Guhong feels even smoother unless you don't get the right tension (then it becomes clicky). I also found that my Zanchis tenstions seem to stay quite even, I never seem able to get the tensions even on my Guhong. I'm not if tensions have anything to do with the plastic or not.

If I were you, I'd try the Guhong v2, but I'd get a white one for the best plastic quality. If your worried about stickers wearing out, I'd suggest tiles. My reason for choosing the Guhong over the Zanchi is that it would be smoother. I'm not sure that the tension thing will matter for you, becaue it could just be my springs. The Zanchi does have an added extra pop mechanism, but it doesn't really matter if you have torpedos.

I've started learning guimond not going so well can remember any off the algorithms but Im willing to put quite alot of time in learning it or Ortega. Which is easier to learn, which gets faster time, which has less algorithms etc. Which would you recommend?

I've seen a video where guimond was recorded as sub 3

Just loosen it all the way and then slowly tighten each face (one at a time) and then stop when you like the tensions. Some people like it more loose than others.
Mine's clicky and blocky whatever I do by trial and error. Elrog implied there's a "sweet spot" so just wondering if there's a trick to finding it.

Question

Ok, so any of these good ideas?

#1

1. Solve all the corners like a 2x2. ( est. 6 sec.).
2. Solve the 2 edges (adjacent and opposite) simultaneously with 1 alg to solve half of the first face.
3. Solve the other 2 edges (adjacent or opposite ) simultaneously with 1 alg to solve one face.
4. Solve the top 2 edges using one alg, and another for the last two.
5. Solve the midges.

#2

Same thing until step 4, where you somehow solve f2l ( edges in one-by-one?)
Step 5. ell

#3

Same thing as the other ones until step 2, where you solve the 2 edges simultaneously, but they don't have to be in the correct position. ( less algs, shorter algs, and easier to recognize)
3. Solve the top edges, they do not have to be in the correct position.
4. Permutation of the edges of both layers
5. Solve the midges.

i remember a while back someone was talking about a cfop substep where you do something to the LL while fixing a flipped edge in the 2nd layer.
i dont remember if it did all of OLL or just EO.

F2L case 38 on the wiki in case it's confusing.

anyone know what that substep is?

Was that not Skyler Variation, where you could put a wrongly flipped edge pair in it's slot at any time in the solve, then fix it in OLL later. It never sounded like a particularly good submethod.

Is it common for my cube to get looser during a session but then go back to normal? I'm finding that my Dayan Zhanchi is getting caught more frequently as my session goes on. Am I just getting sloppy? Or do heat and/or weather affect the cube on that small a basis?

I think it's you. Before you're warmed up you're probably turning more smoothly and then getting choppier as the session goes on.
