I may have asked this before, but how would you write something like this in cube notation? (Or any turn of multiple inner wedges at once?)

4r R' There isn't a way that to do that in one letter though.

Also, what is a good mod that I can do if I have a 3x3x4 with a missing center piece? I can't do CBCubes' mod for 3x3x5 because I don't have that crazy 3x3. Ideas? It's OK if it uses some other puzzles, I'll tell you if I have it or not.

Gratz for 200 posts!

I've heard that you can do it out of 2 3x3x4, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone have a good tip for avoiding "muscleing" when you do algs?
This especially happens to me when i do A-perms, i use a LOT of force often and it locks up. It's because it went smother that way when I used a rubriks brand cube...
Just practice it away?

Turn slower? And get a better cube.

Im not sure how long this will last but I just want to know, where does everybody get their algorithms?

Sorry about that. The domain registration expired because the email address my web provider had was out of date. I had prepaid for 5 years, which just ran out, and I had previously registered using my college email address so that is where the renewal notices were being sent.

The domain has been re-registered and prepaid for another 5 years.

Improving my v cube 5?

I got my v cube 5 about a month ago and it's pretty sad the outer layers catch a lot if sanded down the bumps on the corners but I still have that bumpy feel. I think my problem is my cube is too tight but I can't pop the centers off. I lubed it but its still not too good any suggestions

the caps can come off, but the cube is NOT adjustable. just break it in more, it'll get better.

How do YOU tell when your cube has "died"/ it's time for a new cube? i'm referring more to a 3x3.

Typically when the cube doesn't seem to perform as it used to, I "retire" it. When it stops being what you want it to be, try lube/tension/etc. When that stops working, buy a new cube.

You don't really need to replace cubes often, I've done it twice in the past year.

Zhanchi - keeping the outer edges sharp?

I'm getting two smaller Zhanchi's soon. I'm getting a 55mm and a 50mm. I'm really looking forward to it. I already have the 42.

One of the things I love a lot about the DaYan cubes is the sharp outer edges when they are new. I'm concerned about the new plastics. My last Guhong seemed to wear out very fast and the outer corners are now more rounded than an equally used rubik's. The 42 I've only had for a week and the outer edges are starting to round.

I'm trying to think of a way to have the outer edges wear down sharp. If I took all the cubies apart and filled the outer edges with apoxie sculpt would it wear slower than the dayan plastic? I'm asking because I've never used apoxy sculpt.

Anything else I could do within reason to keep the sharp outer edges sharp?

Printing algorithm pages on speedsolving wiki

Is there a way to print the wiki pages without the links to the algorithm tool showing up? it makes it hard to get each side-by-side algorithm to appear on the same page.

The images are only in the context of the wiki page.

Actually I take that back, the pictures do paste over. Thanks

Commutator Notation

Can someone teach me commutator notation or point me to a place that gives me a thorough explanation of it?

It's pretty simple.

For basic commutators, there are two digits. [X, Y]. For example, [1,1]. This means that X is 1 move, and Y is 1 move.
The way this is executed is X, Y, X', Y'.

So, say X = R, and Y = F...
A [1,1] would be R, F, R', F'.

Like I said, pretty simple.

Then there are conjugates. A conjugate looks like this: [1:1]
This is performed X, Y, X'.

You can combine the two, for example [1:[1,1]]
That would be X, N, M, N', M', X'.
