Thanks, i forgot about configuration totally. Unfortunately it still doesnt work though, it runs for about eight seconds then messes up. And I can only do one solve. Looking at samples from the audio it gives out, i can see that the amplitude fluctuates a lot, perhaps it's that? Any ideas on systematic ways to configure it?

I find that going at a lower sample rate makes the timer vomit out times like 15:165.165 repeatedly, but higher ones make the timer always 'off'.

Ah, now I remember. I never encountered the "running for 8 secs" problem, but I do remember that second problem where it gives tons of times at once. I'm not sure why this worked, but I fiddled with the "Set stackmat value" number up and down a bit, trying to use my QJ at each one, then when I switched it back to 50 it worked.
As for reconfiguring CCT based on sounds from the mic, I'm not sure what to do. I was kinda hoping for some help here, but so far nothing has come.

Now my QJt has been giving me other problems, and I'm considering just sucking it up and buying a Stackmat instead :/

Nevermind i got it working, kriswoll told me something and then I finally worked out what sampling rate actually is and sorted it out. Thanks for your help, i wouldnt have noticed the configure option lol.
My stackmat value was about 30 iirc.

Surprisingly I have had no problems yet and have stuck red tape over the lights so I dont lose whats left of my eyesight, so I am (relatively) happy for now.

This is a kind of subjective question:
Is it worth it to learn all 57 OLL algs? (versus Winter Variation) I feel that WV is better, but is the overall move count lower? (because after all it's breaking OLL into two steps: EO then WV) and if the move count is relatively the same, which has better recognition and execution?

Winter Variation
Pros:
-Less algs (27)
-Mostly 2gen
-Less moves? (I usually do EO before/during the last F2L insertion (pretty sure this saves me moves) which would also set me up for WV algs)
-Eliminates AUF for OLL (algs can be easily modified for direction of F2L pair or slot for insertion)

Cons:
-Edges must be oriented
-Lesser known and used
-Usually two steps (b/c of EO)

I already know CFOP (Full PLL and the 7 OLLs for the full cross, plus a few other random ones) and I have been toying around with Petrus because it appeals to me as a more intuitive and less cookie-cutter of a method. Right now I use CFOP 99% of the time for speed solves and am struggling to get sub-20. Most people would probably tell me to just learn full OLL (and that would probably get me sub-20 soon afterwards) but i'm looking to improve my intuitive cubing skills and lower my move count instead of just getting fast, because in the end i feel i can be faster that way. Winter Variation seems to follow the Petrus motto of "In a good solution you do something useful all the time." without having to (in most of my solves) solve 3 F2L pairs by CFOP, insert 4th pair, take it out and EO, put it back in, AUF, OLL, AUF, then PLL. With WV i foresee my solves looking like: 3 F2L pairs (either by CFOP, Petrus, or the most efficient fusion of the two i see fit for a particular solve), 4th pair, EO, WV, AUF, PLL. Seems better to me but I'd really like to hear from someone who knows and uses WV algs rather than the countless OLL users who have never heard of WV.

Thanks for any help/input, or bringing to light anything i've overlooked. I'm only planning on learning one of the two alg sets.
ps. one option ive considered is learning WV, and OLL for just the dot cases, eliminating the least efficient cases for EO/WV

Examples:
OLL Avg. Move Count: 9.7 HTM
WV Avg. Move Count: 8.07 (not including EO)

7 OLLs (with EO, #21-27 on cubewhiz.com) - Avg. of 10 moves HTM, plus three for pair insertion: 13 moves HTM
Cases for WV can vary - Avg. moves: 8.07 moves

Four CFOP EO cases (dot, L, line, and cross) - 3 move 4th pair insertion + Avg. moves: 6 = 9 moves HTM
EO before 4th pair insertion -
Cross cases: 0 moves
Line case: 5 moves (U F' U F U2)L cases: 3 moves (F' U F), 3 moves (F' U' F)
Single edge cases: 7 moves Right(R U R' U' F' U' F), 7 moves Top(U R U' R' F' U' F'), 8 moves HTM Left(R U R' U' F' U2 F)
No edge case: 11 moves HTM (F' U F R U R' U' F' U2 F)

(0 + 5 + 3 + 3 + 7 + 7 + 8 + 11)/8 = 5.5 moves HTM
*Note: EO doesn't factor in the frequency of each case

Avg. AUF: 1 move

Example solves starting from 4th pair on U
My current average LL:
Insert Pair(3), AUF(1), EO(6), AUF(1), 1 of 7 OLLs(10), AUF(1), PLL(11.8), AUF(1) = 34.8

An average full OLL LL:
Insert Pair(3), AUF(1), Full OLL(9.7), AUF(1), PLL(11.8), AUF(1) = 27.5

An average WV LL:
EO(5.5), WV(8.07), AUF(1), PLL(11.8), AUF(1) = 27.37

There are certain efficient/fingertricky f2l pair inserts that DON'T provide a 2x1x1 f2l pair to be created during the algorithm. The easiest example of this case is the R U R' standard insert. To accomodate for this, there is another algorithm set to learn (summer variation). That brings the 27 algs to 54.

Personally, I'd say the OLL is better suited for CFOP than WV. But that's no reason not to learn the easy WV+SV algs.

WV probably has greater potential with the ZZ method for obvious reasons.

Source: I know ~20 of the WV algs.

My zhanchi popped and while popping, I accidentally dropped the cube causing the half of the cube to pop. I reassembled it and some of the pieces had some hair and whatever was on the ground on the cube. Will this affect the speed MUCH?

Not much, just a little. I always wipe off the pieces when that happens. If it's a lot of pieces I'll put some more lube in the cube. What I find does affect the cube quite a bit is having dirt in the cracks between the pieces. Keeping a clean cube is a good habit to have.

Ooooh, didn't clean it but there was like 1 piece of hair on like 2 or 3 of the pieces, would that affect it? The cube feels slower but that might just be simply a placebo effect.

If it's bothering you to know it's there, you can just pull out the hair. Usually hair in the core just makes a tiny difference if one at all.

I average around 20-29 seconds. I got a 9-14 sec f2l (usually around 11 or 12 secs), a 3-5 sec cross (usually 4 secs), a 6-9 second 2OLL, and a 3-5 sec full pll (including recognition). I mostly get mid 20's and low 20's but I still get high 20's when I get unlucky. Anyone got ideas on what I should improve? I know I got to improve my speed in f2l and oll the most but how?
Additional info: For f2l, I'd say I got look ahead down
For oll, I try to turn the fastest I can yet I still get 6-9 sec OLL's including recognition (my recognition is really good for 2OLL)
Been stuck in the sub 20 area for a while now :(

I think one easy place to improve would be your pll. You can practice execution. The other easy way is to start learning full OLL.
If you "got look ahead down", then you can turn faster. If you can turn slow and not pause, now try to turn fast and not pause.
I think it would help for you to record yourself solving so that people can critique you.
