I'm looking for a video. Someone was solving the 3x3 at a tournament in 2003 I think. He is on a really good time and then the cube pops, he catches the edge in midair, puts it back in and finishes sub 20. This is all I can remember, can anyone link me??

BUMP

I make one pair then solve edges then 2 commutators. Kinda like Heise but it's pointless to make 2 pairs because of the extra corner...
(no one flame me for saying this please, just calmly tell me if you disagree and think it's not anything like Heise[memories from irc urgh]).

This should suffice until you learn last layer.

Edit: please ask if you'd like me to explain in more detail.

Yes please, explain more in detail!

Solve all of the bottom layers EXCEPT one corner-edge-slot.
Orient edges while/(then if you find it hard to orient edges while pairing) making a corner-edge pair that can sit on the top layer.
Solve all edges while preserving pair.
Last 5 corners.

Notes:
For last 5 corners you can use 2 commutators. Read on Ryan Heise's website about the Heise method for 3x3 to get acquainted to commutators and understand this LL method.
In regular Heise this is similar to the two-pair method except I only build one pair. This is because building two pairs would give you three corners on 3x3 (good), but last 4 corners on megaminx (bad).
Making three pairs is an option then it's just one commutator I guess.

How can you have a pair and still have five corners left, shouldn't at most have four left? Building two pairs at the same time/before EO is pretty good though; EOing too early can be a bit restricting. It's not super orthodox Heise, but the core idea of freestyle F2L-1, leaving three corners is still there.

For practicing the cross: take as much time as you need to find a good solution.
Look how certain moves influence the other cross edges: do they bring them into better or worse positions?

Do NOT worry about the 15 seconds inspection time, this is practice remember?
Work on efficiency first, speed will come automatically.

Also: have a look at Badmephisto's cross video on youtube.

EDIT: feel free to post some scrambles and add your cross solutions.
Then we can help in more detail.

I wanna get cracking at ZZ

i want tips to get a better EOLine and i've seen crides site, i know the theory but other than practice what should i do?

what phasing do i need to do to be able to use ZZLL algs and where can i find them
