Ok, I am now practicing my lookahead, when I do my solves before I was capable of sub 40 without lookahead, now with lookahead just my f2l takes 30-50 seconds, why is this?

It takes a while to get used to new methods/techniques.. still, could you post a video showing your new style compared to your old one. I typically found when I was doing slow turning my averages were only 10% slower than normal (until recently when I've got my slow turning taking less time than fast turning)
Why is it I never get an answer in this thread???
I asked a question a few pages ago las night an only one answer saying depends on screws.
Now I said the screws and nothin??!!
practicing lookahead with 40s solves is useless IMO. Before trying to lookahead you have to be able to insert every type of F2L from any angle around the cube, thus knowing when you should regrip or not.
I really started to lookahead around 25s average. In fact, before that you take too much time to recognize F2L so lookahead won't help !
Not everyone knows the answer. It's quite common for people to just not have an answer for questions on this thread.
As for your original question, I'd guess that looser tensions would allow for better corner cutting, because when you cut corners the cubies need to move away from each other (before springing back), which will be easier if they aren't that close to begin with.
However there are disadvantages to having a really loose cube (popping and difficulty in controlling) which may out way the corner cutting advantage.

Hey how am I able to tell whether or not the sides of my cube are all equally tensioned? my cube got smashed on the ground recently with no major damage just that a few center pieces fell off and it feels looser. I tightened the springs but it seems like I cant find exactly where my old tension was....

i usually just disassemble my cube, pull pieces apart and see the distance between the center piece and the core exposing the screw..... if the distance on both sides look the same, they should be about the same tension....
I got my QJ timer today and theres this really loose thing inside that makes a sound when I move it, its like rattling, so maybe a screw loose inside? what do I do to fix it?
