Any timers available for linux? I recently downloaded ubuntu, and the only timer I could find specifically for linux is this, but it won't work on my computer (maybe cause it hasn't been updated in a while?). anyway, any place where I can download a timer for linux, or get another timer like CCT to play on linux?

Prisma Puzzle Timer

Could you post a link to a decent tutorial of this method? Is there a really good video tutorial or simplified text based tutorial for it somewhere?

I saw a couple online, but they all seem to assume that you have a grasp on solving a sq1 to begin with, which I don't. In fact I've never even touched one lol. I really like the sound of any method that is similar to Roux, I learned Stadler for big cubes for just this reason.

learn this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxZ13MHX8E4
then this is roux http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGCiw1LrmBo
I dont recommend roux. I recommend vandenbergh http://www.cubezone.be/square1.html
vandenbergh is basically the beginners method with more algorithms

In 5x5, I'm used to pair first the black and another color tredges and store on U or D, then, I pair the yellow and another color edges and store on U or D. After this I restore the centers and do the last four edges.

My question is, it's faster pair tredges of any color (doing the best tredge to pair) or doing it like a routine like I'm doing it right now?

I like this:

You might want to see this first:

These are my 5x5 times for the three steps.

Centers: 38.84
37.09, 41.42, 34.84, 38.02, 43.00
Edges: 1:02.34
1:07.57, 1:07.07, 56.83, 53.97, 1:03.13
3x3: 25.34
29.74, 21.33, 26.55, 23.34, 26.13

Which could use the most work?

I only did inspection on centers. I also average around 2:05ish-2:15ish.

Could someone give me a link to a pyraminx simulator that is able to have more then just 3 layers? I just watched Timurs
and I wanted to try it.

I can sub 3 the Professor Pyraminx so I think I might be able to sub 10 this.

Bump.

Sorry, but how do I use it? I downloaded it, and I just got a ton of files, I can't find anywhere to actually open the timer.

cd to directory that Prisma is in
java -jar PrismaPuzzleTimer0.4.jar

Go to where the file downloaded.
He's using Gnu/Linux, so doing that would just get him to the classes

No, type "java -jar PrismaPuzzleTimer0.4.jar"

because that is the name of the jar file you want to run
Sorry, that's what I meant. Thanks!
EDIT: It says "unable to access jarfile PrismaPuzzleTimer0.4.jar" Did I download it wrong? Was I supposed to extract the files (cause that's what I did)?

I do it just like you do, black first, then yellow, then last four (except I do M-slice pairing, so I store on R and L). I personally find it to be better for lookahead purposes.

No, you are not supposed to extract the files.

No, you are not supposed to extract the files.

That's right. Delete the extracted file because all you need is the jar.
Also, as I said earlier, you need to be in the directory where the prisma jar file is.
So type
Code:
cd <the directory prisma is in> //btw, directory = folder
java -jar PrismaPuzzleTimer0.4.jar

for example, if prisma was in a directory called "Downloads", type
Code:
cd Downloads
java -jar PrismaPuzzleTimer0.4.jar

So I THINK the directory is in something called "tmp". Does that sound right? Also, I'm a bit confused about the code. Do you input the whole thing as one command, or do you do the "cd" part first, then the "java" part next? By the way, do you include the "//"s in the code as well? Sorry for having to deal with a linux noob like myself.
