do some searching, someone already made a thread and video about it, IIRC

Google found it in one try, compared to the forum search option which yielded no related results. I guess in my time away the search feature was not improved.

thanx

So, since the main drawback of the lingyun was the pops, with this mod, would it be better than a standard guhong? and is the lunhui, the exact same as a lingyun with anchors?

Does anuone have a link to somewhere it explains/shows the differences between the four main dayan cubes.

always better to google with speedsolving in the search term than use the search function. pjk should really work on that.

i have not done the mod for one simple reason - it requires drilling (shudder).

The lunhui feels different from the lingyun. With the anchors, they were world apart. Without the anchors, there were still significant difference in terms of feel. Can't describe.

I have the 3 dayans (zhanchis are on their way). As iIt is difficult to describe their differences in feels, you might want to check out youtube where these 3 have been compared.

guhong is smooth (rarely pops so long as you don't set it too loose. I just did an 'aggresive' solve on one and it did not pop)

lingyun sounds like an F2 (based on my viewing of F2 in youtube) and is a loose and fast cube. It pops only when you turn too aggresively or set it too loose. I removed the washers and tensioned it tighter. Have not a pop since...

Lunhui - in my experience, needs more breaking in. The anchors seem to be in the way, contributing to the friction (like swimming with your socks on?). Once broken in, it is smooth, and almost unpop-able.

All these cubes turn nicely because of their corner cutting ability. I guess the reason some cubers posted problems because they want their cubes to to cut 45 degs. That's when you gets pops and lock-ups at fast speed. Mine is set to cut around 35 degs and slightly higher.

Hope this helps.

I prefere my F2 vs lingyun. It never pops, but then every now and then I pick up my lingyun cuz its so smooth! but I pop alot. Maybe the mod will help. Luckily, my neighbors own a machine shop, with a drill press. and oodles of screws, and I found the exact type to use, in the thread I googled.

My current treasure hunt is pictures of the differences. lol

Dug around and found this site http://cubeweb.info/ in my bookmarks.

Is there a variation of the zz method that i could learn fairly easily?

What's so hard about ZZ? If it's EOLine, just start with EO+Line, until it gets easier.

My question: Should I make a thread similar to this one, except that it reviews more popular cubes, like the ones in my resource thread? Obviously, since I don't have all of these cubes and I'm not the best at writing reviews, I will need (a lot of?) input for this thread, if I do decide to do this.

EDIT: This would include other cubes, not just 3x3.
