if you want to be super thorough you should disassemble the cube, clean all of the pieces and the core, lightly spray all the pieces + the core with jig a loo, give it a second to dry, then reassemble. Then work in the lube for as long as it takes to feel awesome.

If you want to do it the easy way, just pop out a dedge and spray some lube in and pop the pieces back in. Then pop out another dedge on the other side and repeat.

A kid at school has recently damaged an edge piece on his storebought Rubik's Cube, and wants me to find a replacement piece. Is there anywhere I could get one?

The plastic has been pushed in. I can't explain it very well.

When solving the cross, to adjust the centers after you solve the cross, is it better to do D moves or u moves? Or does it just depend on the cuber?

Depends on where the first f2l pair is, I personally use D moves but if doing a u or u' move puts the first f2l pair in front of me then I'll do that, because its easier then doing a rotation instead. Depends basically.

For one handed, what would be an average that is equivalent to a sub 10 2H average?

I bought a Dayan+MF8 4x4 based on the fact that many say its one of the best on the market (wasn't willing to pay 40+ for x-cube). Now I know that out of the box its pretty terrible, but how long should it take to break in? I've had it for a good month or so. I don't play with it often (mainly because its terrible, and partly because I'm focused on improving 3x3), but enough that I would think it should be broken in by now. But the inner layers are still slow, and the outers are even worse. If I try to go fast at all, the cube just feels squishy and pops most of the time. I've taken it apart and tensioned the core, and lubed with CRC (all I have at the moment, planning on getting lubix soon). Is there something most people do to it that I'm just missing? Should I loosen the tension more? I hope I just didn't get a bad one...
