No they are not the same. Look closely at the notation

And it's a 3 corner cycle algorithm. So if you do Aa then it becomes Ab. ANd likewise if you do Ab then it becomes Aa

Same thing goes with the U perms

to distinguish them, look at the cycle, is it clockwise or counterclockwise? there are also some tricks you will have to sort of look at if you want faster recognition
 
is it a good idea to start practicing opposite color cross (yellow) a week before comp? should i wait until after? i average 17 or so white cross
yellow, just did ao12 in race to sub20 thread, got 20 second average. 3 seconds slower (though i feel like i would improve fast. worst thing i have issues with is color scheme)

good idea? bad?

i just did an ao12 white cross right now, right after i did the yellow cross ao12.
it's not bad. a bit inconsistant because some solves i would think about the color scheme..meh. ill take it
14.87, 14.99, 16.93, 17.07, 23.08, 16.59, 21.11, 17.05, 17.32, 16.01, 23.28, 14.73...17.5 average. normal averages that i consider good at 17 flat-ish

i'll probably just stick to whitecross at the comp unless i see a very easy yellow cross..or i get my times of yellow cross down to my white.

Cool. If you can get comfortable with the yellow you could even try to do it in the comp!

I don't know which the v1 is, but here's the links to both. I'm assuming that the one with the tiles is v1. So this is V1 I think which meansTHIS is v2

is there any reason you would need to do opposite color cross?
havnt been to a comp before, so is it required?
 
well, that way, you have 2 options open as your starting colour. Which means if there's a cross that's easier on the opposite side, you won't have to quick to the colour you normally start with.

Could someone tell me why I can't upload videos to youtube? i've been trying for the past 4 or 5 hours now. They keep freezing damnit! I tried firefox and ie both. It's a 122mb vid that refuses to upload! I tried the simple and java uploader both. It always freezes.

Maybe the size of the file is too large for your connection? The largest I have done was about 40 mb. You could also try converting it to .flv before you upload, so the file size would be smaller and they won't have to try convert it (can't remember if it converts/uploads at the same time)

EDIT: Just thought of a question too, I watched Badmephisto's F2L video a while ago and I try doing as little cube rotations as possible, but I don't do any F or B moves anymore, I put it in using only U, R and L moves; and instead of doing a F move, I do a cube rotation and then complete it with RUL moves, is this bad and should I try doing F moves as well?

You could just go to Ace Hardware and ask them. So how is the V-cube 6 going? I tried the sodering pins thing and I ended up with a messed up core...so the trade is off...

ive been to home depot and sears, both of which didnt have the right stuff. uhhh, the cube was wayyy to loose so i had to do the adjustable core. as of right now its not functional cuz it doesnt have a working core. anyway, what do you mean you messed up the core? how?

I melted the plastic and I cant get the soder out of the screw.

1. My average is somewhere between 21 and 22 seconds. How bad is my last layer for that kind of time?
2. What should I do to improve my last layer?
 
Well if your avg is 21-22, 7.32 or whatever ur avg was is almost exactly 1/3 of your average. If we assume each layer takes the same amount of time (which doesn't really make sense because the E layer only has 4 pieces to solve, compared to the 8 in the first and last layer) then your LL is perfectly proportional to your full solve. I would hazard a guess that your f2l has more room for reasonable improvement than your LL. Even with 2 second execution on all OLLs and PLLs, allowing 1 second of reco/recall per look, you'd be on pace for a 6 second LL (that is, with 2 Look Last Layer, OLL/PLL.) You only have about a second an a half to lose for that, whereas you average around 14-15 for the cross+f2l, which you could easily get to 10-12 with regular practice. Slow down and look ahead, practice doing f2l pairs blindfolded, cross blindfolded, 2 f2l pairs at a time blindfold, practicing with a metronome, learning more algs for difficult cases, practice mirror algs from RU to L'U', or to R'U'(i.e. back right slot) or LU (back left slot.)

EDIT: Now I have a question (don't wanna double post)

My CCT has done it again. Randomly lost all of my times (1600+ for 3x3 since some time in aug/sep.) This has happened before, but this is kinda different, it happened while the program was open, but on a different profile (one I used for random stuff.) Just as I was thinking about how CCT randomly loses its memory I stopped from browsing the forums and went over to CCT and switched back to my main profile. And it was weird, the open session was one for 2x2, which I haven't done in a while, and it certainly wasn't the last session I had open on that profile. The times look vaguely familiar and are pretty bad so it leads me to believe it was the first 2x2 session I had done on it since the last reset. YEAH it is my first session, I just noticed the date, 9/1.

Now when I'm on my normal profile it says (logging disabled) in the profile drop box and thus doesn't save anything when you close. My third profile also lost all of the times, and also says (logging disabled.) How to fix?

Maru 4x4

just got my maru and noticed that two of the screws are nonadjustable

is that normal, or is the core like stripped or something

also just got a YJ 5x5 and it seems to comes with either textured stickers, or tiles
never seen tiles before so i am not sure which.
help appreciated
