Hi, I've been out of the loop for a little while, and a lot of new cubes have come out that I don't know much about. Generally, what do people think about the Type C WitYou v2, and the three newest moyu 3x3s?

Personally I don't like the Type C WitYou V2. It just doesn't fit my turning style. Some people do like it but it's a lesser used cube. Out of the MoYu cubes I would say that the WeiLong and LiYing (and maybe the HuanYing) are the only good MoYu cubes, just my opinion. The DianMa is terrible and many people do use the AoLong as their main or at least say they like it but it's not my favorite, I think it's just okay. The YJ 3x3s, like the YuLong, are also good cubes too.

Dianma: not that good
LiYing: ok, some people's mains
AoLong: awesome, but not perfect (check out some reviews, such as this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt0x0DZUPsk :))

I am starting to practice 5x5x5 and L2E are eating my times alive. Are these the best L2E algs? Sarah Strong's site. or does anyone have any better sources or algs?

A few notes:
#3 (Rw2 F2 U2 r2 U2 F2 Rw2) - if you are using regular reduction, you can actually just Rw2 in place of that middle r2.
#5 (Rw U2 Rw U2 Rw' U2 Rw U2 Lw' U2 Rw U2 Rw' U2 x' Rw' U2 Rw' U2 M') - I use Rw2 B2 U2 Lw U2 Rw' U2 Rw U2 x U2 Rw U2 Lw' D2 Rw2, less moves
#6 (Rw U2 Lw' U2 x Rw' D2 Rw F2 Rw' F2 Rw U2 Rw') - I use Rw2 B2 Rw' U2 Rw' U2 x' U2 Rw' U2 Rw U2 Rw' U2 Rw2

I'll point out though that learning all of these is really unnecessary at your speed. Every case can be solved with at most 2 applications of one of the first two algs, and at most 1 application of the OLL parity alg (#5 on that list). I'm pretty sure I didn't start learning any L2E algs past those until I was sub-2 at 5x5. And I still don't know all of them now.

What speed level (Sub-X) would be recommended to be at when going to a competition for 3x3?

Go to every comp you can. They are fun. You meet great people.
Compete against yourself. If you are a 30 second solver on average, try to beat it your average in comp.
I went when I was around 31 second average and I get a 40+ second average because I was nervous XD. But I had a great time and can't wait to go to my next comp.

Only thing that will make your day short is the cut-off times.

Just go! I went to one averaged 24.43 was like 22nd place but it was fun anyway. Don't freak out about impossible cutoff times, there is likely many others who will not make those.

I'm going to another comp in a few weeks (2ish) want to get sub 23.50 average on 3x3.

My questions:
1. How come my 7x7 times are almost as low as my 6x6 times I average barely sub 8 on 7x7 and about 6:40 on 6x6. It might be my stinky v-cube 6(I just ordered a shengshou 6x6 hopefully this will improve it. )

2. O. M. G. Why can't I sub 1:50 on 4x4? In comparison to my other times, I should be averaging 1:30ish I use reduction edge pairing is 6-2-2-2 I don't think my cube is bad I have a lanlan.

3. It seems like everyone one is doing like averages of 500 and stuff like that.
(A). I don't have 6 hours a day to cube! How can I practice a lot?!
(B). I don't have any computer but an ipod which I am typing this on, so how on earth do i track averages? There is no way I am writing down and calculating a bunch of solves.

4. How should I hold a skewb? Lol my tps is like 1.5 :(

5. On 6x6 and up I solve L2C (reduction) by solving the "corner centers" of each layer like 4x4 then one at a time for the "edge centers" is there a better way to do this?

6. Should I continue working on BLD? I stopped a few weeks ago with a succes rate ~27% and time about 12mins. I am more into "normal" cubing and don't see myself getting fast at BLD or doing big cubes, is there any particular reason to get back into it?

Sorry for all the questions i just discovered this thread.

Questions

1)Probably due to the hard ware, but I dont think they're close, though
2)You aren't doing some parts efficiently enough, I guess, try posting an average and asking for tips
3) Maybe an app like Chaotimer?
4)Try watching some example solves and see how others hold their skewb
5)I believe bar, bar, bar is much more efficient
6)Up to you, personally, I only practice events I care about, ignoring other events

For question2,
Get a shengshou 4x4 or an aosu! Lanlan 4x4s suck.

Is it just me or do the orange stickers from Moyu get darker when exposed to sunlight/heat, but after a while will revert back to their normal bright orangeness? If this is a common thing, is there anything I can do to revert the orange back to its original shade faster?

1. That isn't that odd. I have seen a few people who have great 7x7 and only ok-ish 6x6 times
2. Definitely technique. I recommend solving with Hoya or Yau Method.(Hoya is better for me but most ppl use Yau.) Getting an Aosu/Weisu is a really good idea.
3. (A)Neither do I. I have a wife and 2 sons(2 & 1 years old). I spend most of the day with them. I just wait till everyone is asleep. But then again I NEVER sleep more than 6 hours. I am up all night lol
(B) Cell phone?
4.Youtube Skewb finger tricks. So many good videos out by all the good people right now.
5.I do 1xn bars.(1x6 or a bunch of 1x2 or 1x3 bars and make 2 or 3 1x6 bars out of those.

6. From how you wrote that sentence, I would say no. If you liked it, you probably wouldn't be so self-defeating. Practice what you like. Just remember you will probably lose your ability to BLD if you don't use it.

Anybody knows how to prevent the center caps on the weilong to pop????
EDIT: NO SUPERGLUE
Put a dab of lube on all the screws and then press your center caps on.

My question: I average 27 seconds with a 4 second cross 15 second F2L and 8 second 4LLL.
How can I improve so that I can get sub 20 quickly? How can I sub 10 my F2L and sub 3 my cross?.

There are two ways of improving your times so that you get to sub 20.
The first way is the way that I did it, which was basically learn all of the PLLs and about half of the OLLs, and eventually through all of the solving, your F2L time will start to go down just because you have been solving so much.
The second way is the one that will feel more constructive, which is to focus on improving the first two steps of your CFOP solve. Basically, if your F2L is 15 seconds long, it is either because you spend most of your time trying to find the pairs or because you spend most of your time solving the individual pairs. The problem is more likely the former, in which case you should do tons and tons and tons of slow turning where you improve your lookahead, plus tons of regular solving. If the problem is the latter (and I doubt that), do a lot of slow turning so that you can focus on how you solve your individual pairs. I find that solving pairs with a blindfold works pretty well. If your problem is a mix of the two (and that's more likely than that your problem is the latter) then both of those solutions will work fine.
Also, BLD crosses will make your cross times sub 3 pretty fast. Use this to find optimal solutions.

Both of those methods to get sub 20 (or really, sub any time barrier above 15 actually) will work. Up to you to figure out what to do.

IMO I lookahead. My main problem is the speed. How can I lookahead faster?(like Feliks LOL). I can solve F2L without pauses, but I need to turn slow for that. How can I search for pieces quicker in a blur? Also I need to improve my cross. For that I need to memorize the color scheme. How can I manage this if I am CN?

Tracking. You need to practice tracking pieces. Like this. That's all I can really say. You might also want to take a look at this which will give you some insight into how to practice.
